A rather minor Dilemma

I have this expansive world lore that I've recently come to pretty much completing, save for a few edits. Probably rooting out some inconsistencies (Which are present in any expansive canon), some proofreading is probably needed, etc etc.

Anyway, I have forums set up on it with a roleplaying section and a story section, for non-roleplayers but writers who may be inspired enough to write a short story regarding my lore. It also has a Comments section for those who want to give me some feedback and help me refine my lore in any way.

My dilemma is thus; how do I go about advertising this? I am a member of many forums but I'm not really sure how to advertise it because I don't want to ask everyone to just come and "read this whole ton of stuff, and sign up too!" I can't really think of anything to 'nab' people.

You can probably PM a Mod here to figure out where and how on the site you will be allowed to post it. Obviously you seem to have the good sense to not just start spamming the forums. There are also lit and roleplaying boards on forums like 4chan though I can imagine you may wish to be careful about who winds up on your forum. If you participate on forums where they allow sigs you can post a link there and I don't think they would mind something like that. I have not been on facebook so I am not sure how things there work but I am sure you can link it there at the least. I believe you can create a "group" or something of the sort on facebook for forum members. You can possibly even create a facebook account specifically for your forum then go about joining groups with it and friending people you think might be interested.

Aye. I considered posting it in the Roleplaying forum, but I think it would have just been locked with a "You can't post site ads here".

Facebook might be an okay idea, but it kind of bores me and I don't use it often.

Go around some RP forums/boards and post a topic that says something like "Can you guys tell me what you think of this" and to suggest roleplaying there. Just make sure you're following the rules, some sites don't like advertising, others restrict it to a specific area. RPoL, for example, has an "Offsite Gaming" section that pretty much deals with that (also, roleplaying IRL).

I'm not sure about any, erm, writer forums (would you call them that? are they wide spread?). I suppose it's worth having a look and advertising there - perhaps ask the members if they would consider writing some fiction using your world.

Also, it might depend on what your world is, I assume it's a fantasy setting, in which case...I actually don't know who, but somebody might be interested. If you find such a group of people, they are potential "recruits".
