I'm new to the escapist (and forums in general) and just a bit of a newby question. How do you make the spoiler boxes, where when you click on it it comes up with the writing inside. Sorry if this is completely nooby and easy to acomplish but i'm just a bit lost about that.

Thanks for your help

and how do you do it so that when you put a link to a web page you click on a word (normally 'here', as in 'click here') rather than copy and pasting the web address?

the stuff you want to put in it[*spoiler]
where the "*" is you put a "/"
look in the forum threads started by mods and people who work for the escapist, they explain a lot of things like this.

Use the tags spoiler and /spoiler.

[*spoiler] the /spoiler except with [ and ].

It will look like this:

This is how it should be if you did it right.

For the url: Type in *your text here* [] The web address or link goes -right- after the = symbol. The your text here spot is where you place the word that is going to be turned into a link.

Example: This is the Escapist [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/]

Just quote a post with those features in it & you see how it's done.

I don't mean to sound facetious, but it'll be far easier for you to quote and see for yourself than have it explained to you.

That's how I learnt how to do it & I don't even know how else I could easily explain it (I'm crap at explaining technical things).

If you want to put text in the spoiler headline:

(spoiler="Whatever you want to say.")(spoiler="The next sentence...")And the punchline.(/spoiler)(/spoiler)

And the punchline.

One should never be afriad to ask the escapist community a legitimate question, we're not the Gamespot forums or 4chan. So basically unless you are...

a) A Jerk
b) With poor spelling

You won't likely be insulted for asking something "noobish".

Really, newbie is a better term for virgin forum users. Better than noob anyway.

Agreed, people are really laid back and generally pretty damn friendly in just about all circumstances.
