OK so if the title brought you in then I introduce you to what is... A shameless and morally reprehensible plug for one of my favourite ever bands: Reuben

WAIT!!!! A considered and worthwhile explanation follows:

In 2007, underground British rock act Reuben attempted to sub-verse the industry by virally marketing their feel-good track 'Christmas Is Awesome' in an attempt to reach Christmas No.1 ( way before downloads were counted and all that Rage stuff last year). Unfortunately, due to a mix up the wrong track was submitted for counting!! So all the sales didn't count - bad times.

Due to my internet trawling I have come upon a facebook group attempting to revitalise the old Reuben charm this year in the spirit of last year's silly but albeit hilarious spamming of the UK charts with 'Killing In The Name': http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=111188372262745

Christmas Is Awesome is a song to be enjoyed at any time of the year but get your fill now and all members in the UK who enjoy be prepared to buy in the counting week of December - I will be reposting this topic....

Have to be honest, I brought "Killing in the Name" last year because I actually like the song. And detest the X Factor but that's a different story. It's only my musical taste but the above song is not something I'd listen to, let alone buy.

Now if we were trying to get
to number 1 then I'd be fully behind you.

Of course, it should already have been Christmas Number 1 but that damn Donnie Darko and Gary Jules Mad World ruined everything -.-

Why do I care, charts mean nothing at the end of the day, but it usually helps if a song has some quality that I enjoy.

Haha yeh I was annoyed that The Darkness didn't hit the topical number one spot that year. I was singing it everywhere I went! I bought 'Killing In The Name' too despite already owning it, something about stopping the X-factor onslaught spurred me on even though I knew deep down it was still part of the same machine..

This is more just a bit of an independent band having fun though, no-one expected it to reach number one in 2007 even before the cock up, let alone now. It's just a fun little track though and it would be nice to see Reuben shine again for a week. And if you like your quirky, interesting rock go check the band out, this was a piss take, nothing like their normal stuff..
