A Show about a Sword

As the title foreshadows, this thread will deal with a show about a sword. Specifically, the sword Excalibur. For the past few days now, I've been remembering this show that used to be on TV where what I believe is a girl obtained the sword Excalibur. She has a few friends and she uses the sword to fight evil. What I am asking of you is for your help to find the name of the show.

I know, it's a very vague description, but if anybody here knows what show I'm talking about, the help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, I really can't think of one, closest would be the Marion and Her Merry Men, which doesn't actually have anything to do with Excaliber, but did have a strong lead woman in a traditionally male role.

Also I'm not passing an excuse to link it's ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC theme tune. Ah memories.


Could you maybe tell us the country it was in (UK/America/Nepal) and was it animated or live-TV? That might narrow the search a bit.

I honestly think it had just about the worst writing and voice acting I have ever seen, not to mention the awful animations.
