So Ive been thinking lately... but before I say what I say I must emphasize how much I love Friday the 13th and the character of Jason Voorhees. A truly great figure in the horror genre who I am sure is adored by many a horror fan myself included. As of late Ive started reading Friday the 13th fan fiction- WAIT WAIT dont leave just hear me out- most the stuff I read was pretty descent and one touched my heart in a very special place (so what Im sensitive who gives a fuck?) but a question has recently entered my thoughts. What if a new Friday the 13th was made and it included a romance subplot for Jason? Personally, I think it would bring a nice new spin to series to have a girl meet Jason and see past the mask and machete. But what do you think? Would you see it? How well would think it would do if it was actually made? Who would play Jason's love interest? So on and so forth. Now this is just an opinion, the actually likely hood of this actually happening is very low but I still would be interested to see it. Again, I would appreciate all types of feedback.

I can't really see it working with Jason himself as a character. The irony of Jason as an unstoppable killer is that emotionally he's still a child. He's not looking for a lover. Hell, he's not looking for anything. The reason for which he never speaks isn't because he's incapable, it's because he's so caught up in an internal fantasy world in which his mother gives him the instructions he follows that he has no need to communicate with anyone else. The idea that some girl would be able to break through the delusion he lives under seems to me like it wouldn't really fit with some of the underlaying plot lines of the series. So no, I don't see this one being the next hit slasher film.

No. He doesn't have feelings. He murders people, thats what he does! How, exactly, would that work? She watches him murder everyone she is at the lake house with and then as he approaches her she goes "Oh, he's so sexy! His voice is so suave and charming! Clearly we are star crossed lovers!" No. Some characters are destined to be tools or forever alone or in his case, a murdering psychopath who is doomed to be forever alone because he kills everyone he comes in to contact with.

come again? If you're looking for a romance, or meaningful character development, why are we talking about Friday the 13th?

There are plenty of movies/books out there with whatever you are looking for. Why ask for an out of place romance to be shoehorned into a crappy slasher?

well seeing as he kills every girl he meets, even the topless ones.... i dont see how a relationship would start let alone work. maybe if he finds an abused child and protects it, but thats as close as we'll get to loveable jason

There is no better way to spoil a movie then to throw in something from the book of Hollywood cliches.
Gotta agree with Mr. K on this. It's annoying how many movies have a romance plot for no real reason.

Bride of Chucky style? Only way I could see this working, is if she was equally as fucked up as Jason. Not to mention just as hardy, and unstoppable. Then they could go on a killing spree... Together! Dawwwww.

There's a simple answer to all of this.

Jason Voorhees slashfic.

Jason needs a father figure!

... who will probably also tell him to kill.

To elaborate, Im sort of going off the 2009 version of F13 because it shows a more human side of Jason (yes I saw it I know its mostly just tits blood and stupid but if you look his human stuff is there)we actually see him show a general care for someone though it is a bit confusing he thinks she's his mom but he keeps her chained up in a dirty cellar? But I try to look deeper than the simple "he kills dumb teens and wears a mask". He faced constant prejudice as a child and died because the chaperons were to busy macking on each other to help him. Now shunned by a society that wont accept him he lives solitude of his forest but becomes enrage when these teens come and disturb his peace and they also bring up a deep seeded hatred in him because he is reminded of his past. In short, I can not be afraid of Jason because of the overwhelming sorrow I feel for him because of his shit life. I do realize what of all I just said was pretty confusing but I would just like to see at least once for someone to try and help Jason overcome his difficulties (again pretty confusing) and try and help him to become a better person. WOW. the I just wrote sounds weird and confusing.

It's... an interesting idea. Some kind of Beauty and the Best complex going on, with the love interest wanting to see if there's anything human left under the mask.
I don't think I've ever seen a F13 movie, or at least, not all the way through. If memory serves, it started with Jason drowning and having a witch mother and some other weird shtick. That's gotta mess a guy up something awful, but how great would it be to see a story of redemption, so Jason can finally get eternal peace? And of course, the only way for him to find redemption is in the lips of a kind hearted, pretty and cute, but not necessarily hot/sexy female age 20-26.

It'll never get the green light, but still, the idea is a good one.
