In the various nations around the world and in the world itself, there are countless problems yearning to be solved. Name a problem in a country or the world today and propose a rather simple way of solving it.

P.S.: Keep it serious, folks, and we won't have problems

I'll start.
Problem: The U.S. budget has an enormous deficit every year.
Solution: A 0.05% sales tax for the whole country.

Search bar tested, but not necessarily approved.

Solution: Ban idiocy
Banishment location: The moon

It's half serious, half silly. That's just about as far as I can reach for ya...

This is mildly irritating you know that right?

Any serious problem that someone lists seriously doesn't have a simple solution or it would have been fixed.

Your so called "serious answer" wouldn't work. A better name for this thread is "over generalization Thursday, and the over-generalized solutions for them!"

Oh well.

EDIT: ok fine, i'll put in something...

Problem: Politicians don't know how to run the country.
Solution: Require at least some sort of degree in Economics to run for office.

Thats about the best i can do without over-simplifying the problem and solution.

sigh, you two are immature.

Problem: Game censorship

Solution: give Yahtzee his own team of trained militia snipers to assassinate Michael Atkinson (or whatever the fuck his name is), then dispose the guns in the middle of the ocean.

Spend less god damned money!
Fixed that for you there...

I kid, I kid.

Anyway,
Problem: One of the resistances against nuclear power in this country is fear of nuclear waste.
Solution: Tell Jimmy Carter to go stuff it and start reprocessing spent fuel again. [http://depletedcranium.com/why-you-cant-build-a-bomb-from-spent-fuel/]

Yeah, I'm with this guy. I mean, if it were simple, it'd probably be done.

Problem: Japan
Solution: Atom Bomb

Nvm I'm a few decades late, sorry.

Too soon?

Problem: under age drinking.
Solution: Open off licenses at ten not close them at ten.

The Irish will get this. I rarely use emoticons here so government take this glare seriously. ¬_¬

The threat of nuclear war: Ban nuclear weapons.

In fact - the threat of war: Ban war, and non-international peace-keeping armies.

Also, the complicated paperwork and knotty problems posed by bureaucracy: ban politicians, set a limit on how far people are allowed to be mechanically systematic and form genuine teams to find solutions. Think of a government with the flexibility of a terrorist organisation, who are actually a coherent and good at taking action.

What? There aren't any real simple solutions that will work indefinitely, but the way I see it, if you have a knot, you can always cut it with your sword. This is known as the <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordian_Knot>Gordian solution.
