A Stranger in a Strange Land

And I don't mean the novel. I mean myself. I won't bore you with crap about how I hope I'll become a really constructive and valued community member. It's not that I'm not interested in becoming a really constructive and valued community member, but you've probably heard all of it before. So I'll just proceed with other parts of my self-introduction.

I've been using this website for about four months anonymously, browsing random topics and thinking 'Damn, I need to post on this!' while watching Zero Punctuation and Extra Credits. I've also seen all of There Will Be Brawl, but it wasn't until after the whole thing was over.

So that I don't have to explain it in any other threads later on, I used this name for a while back when I used to play Runescape, although I changed it almost as soon as the name change feature was made available. Also, I haven't really decided on an avatar yet, partly because I don't have a good picture/animation (heck, I don't even know HOW to make animated GIFs!) but I do plan to upload one eventually!

So that's me, in a nutshell. Please don't flame me.

Edit: Just something else about me. I use Steam rather more than any other platform, but unfortunately it'll only load on one computer when the stars are perfectly aligned and it's slow as hell on the other. Does anyone else have the same consistency problems as me?

Welcome to the forums! I was in the same shoes as you, I went on the escapist initially to watch Zero Punctuation and started to watch other shows and just like you, I started to look into the forums anonymously. Imo, the escapist forums is probably one of the best forums to socialize with like minded gamers and to engage in intellectual and humorous discussions.

Well, thanks, guys. Sober, I'd have to say that like most people here, my favourite part of the website is Zero Punctuation. Heck, it's the reason I came here in the first place: I'd heard about the guy through word-of-mouth and hit Google. Ten minutes later, I was hooked. Silent, it's great to hear that there's people around who only use websites for one thing, then somehow start doing other things once they seem interesting, but I'm not quite up to the stage of using everything on the site.

I haven't even read the book. Before you brought it up, I didn't even know who wrote it or what it was about.

Also, here's some more stuff about me:

-Number of games owned on Steam: 6, but planning to make it 8
-Least favourite game genres: WRPG, anything based around competitive online multiplayer
-Favourite game of all time: It's hard to pick just one
-Last game I bought: Pokemon Black
-Game genres I've never even touched: Sandbox
-Indie or Triple-A?: As long as it's not bland and samey, I'll probably like it.
