The Escapist forum is a place one such as myself can go to 'escape' the twisted mess that is the general internet. It is a place where a man (or woman) can go and not be scared of what he believes, where he can go in depth about matters that he feels passionate about and debate with intelligent people from all around the world. Yes, here discussion is paramount, one can be but on probation if he does not contribute in any reasonable way to the thread in question. Versus threads are banned and flame wars are thoroughly looked down upon. On top of this, new threads are being created all the time! Yes the Escapist Forum is really a Utopia of the internet.

The Escapist forum is a place where one such as myself can go to show how much better I am than anyone else. It is a place where a man (or woman) can hold any opinion he wants, as long as it is not serious. For the man who whole heartedly believes what he does is seen as deluded. The staff of this site do all they can do encourage discussion, doesn't work though does it? Instead the Forum is full of 'What is your favourite _______' threads and thinly concealed versus threads, where you leave one comment without reading all previous comments, and then move on. Safe in the knowledge that your comment was bridging the gap between irrelevant and attempted wit. New threads are created all the time, but they are more often than not copied from a previous thread or on the same topic.
It is not all doom and gloom, there are a few who roam these threads. Doing their best to create debate but mostly talk about 'the good old days' where the Escapist Forum was as it should be (apparently).
The Escapist is a wonderful site, well set out and well policed. But it feels like that is only a facade, underneath lies any other forum, full of people comparing 'witty' (I say witty but that is rarely the case) remarks as if they were comparing dick sizes. The few who see this mearly go along with it as there is nothing that they can do.
To create discussion we first need controversy. And we can't have that can we?
But after all this, I will not leave this site. It may be only a billboard of Utopia. But at the moment it is the best we have by a long way. Feel free to disagree, it may give you something to discuss. And that would be nice.
