It would be way better if it were a "suicide BOMBER" button.

Totally fucked? KAMIKAZE! If you can actually make it to your enemy before they shoot you to bits, null score.

I have one in TF2 for a few reasons, mostly for pissing about though.

But if I explode mid fight in TF2 they get a "X finished off Y" and a kill anyway so it's not harming anyones scores.

Postal 2 has it, you press K and you put a grenade in your mouth then click and you regret nothing and your head explodes.

To quote Yahtzee in his Jericho review "There's unfortunately no option to fellate your gun barrel unless you count the quit button". So I guess in theory there is one.

Interestingly enough, you could just go the option of throwing a grenade at your feet and waiting for the blast. Or do what my friend did in one Halo mapp and just jump to your death before the opponent can kill you.

I don't really see the point to it though, since some will evantually master it so that they only use the button a mere second before they are killed, leading to alot of swearing and name-calling over chat for constantly cheating people out of points.

Yeah it's a cowards way out. But if you are stuck in a building with no way out and enemies closing on you from all sides, then I think it's an idea.

I know it would probably never work as it would create immense amount of controversy but I would like to know thoughts on the idea in general.
I think the potential for griefing outweighs any good of having this button.

there is one in all COD games and Halo and Gears and Battlefield, it's called holding a grenade down and running at the enemy like an angered Scotsman who's just had his Whiskey confiscated..

If I know I'm gonna die I'll wait for them to get closer and drop a grenade right before I die, it always works on teabaggers.

why give up when you still can kill the other guy? lets say you,re cornerd near the enemy HQ and you want to kill yourself, while you can also preform a kamikazi move and charge to the spawn point. In other words its pretty pointless

Hehehe, Mech Assault had one in splitscreen multiplayer, once your mech was destroyed in the co-op mode, you'd spawn on foot, and can't do anything except get trod on, shot, or make yourself die by clicking the right thumbstick. Of course, you could run around.
Mech Assault 2 lacked that feature, but when on foot, you could plant bombs, and blow yourself up.
Actually, no. Mech Assault 2 has it. It still lets you die with the right thumbstick.

that's a bad Idea you might end up in the mystical afterlife where all midair rockets and cooking grenades seem to go when their player dies.

I think it would be quick cool just to grab a gun with any ammo, unload it for one bullet, blow your brains out, screen goes black and then you respawn

Kinda like the suicides in MK?

I can totally stand by that nothing pisses people off like denying them the kill by suiciding, I did it to my brother all the time when we used to play together.

I've used it once in CoD:MW2 and felt like I could've gone out swinging instead of punking out.

I'm glad my typo inspired a whole thread. :D

Anyway, I'd quite like the option. I think it'd work pretty well in a stealth-based game.
If you're noticed by someone who's assured to lose, they can kick their own bucket. That'd encourage the stealth element, since if they don't notice you they can't accordingly remove their brains from its place of origin.

At least it does if you don't think about all the reasons that wouldn't work.
