I've had oral surgery relating to my cleft lip and palate complications.

...Shit ain't fun. Also, because of it some of my teeth are all fucked up, and I'll probably be wearing braces for much longer than your average person. It's mostly the top row of teeth that are a problem though.

As for actual cavities? I remember when I was proud to have none. Then I got one and kind of just stopped caring. I think I might have had 3 or 4 that needed filling in.

Trust me, my incandescent friend, I was in your boat until the start of this year (braces-wise, i had them on for 5 years) and OH LORD are my teeth shot to hell.

The one piece of advice i can give you: If you think your teeth are clean, they aren't clean enough. I ended up with ~8 cavities and i may lose one of my front teeth.

No cavities, no braces, no removals. The worst damage I've done to my teeth was a tiny chip that broke off when I was trying to fix a broken chain by chewing it very hard (I had no pliers handy). Was worth it, I fixed the chain and the chip has all but healed back over.

I've had cavities. Never needed braces, never hurt my teeth, have only had my wisdom teeth taken out. I've lived a blessed teeth-filled life.

But for the love of god I have to watch out eating icecream. Cold on my teeth for too long feels... it feels like satan.

Well, I just had my first trip to the dentist in about 3 years last week. It went surprisingly well. Other than refixing a tooth that had been chipped when I was 8 (my brother threw a rock at me and broke one of my top front teeth) the dentist said they were in good shape. So a happy surprise for me.

It was on Valentines Day back when I was in forth grade while I was playing freeze tag with the other students and I was it. I had just tagged someone and was standing a few inches away from them when someone(to this day I don't know who it was) pushed the guy in front of me back, sending his skull into my front tooth. The other guy was in immense pain but I was fine, if not a little dazed. It wasn't until we were in the nurses office that I found out that a large portion of my top front left tooth was now gone. I got the missing portion replaced and have had to get it re-replaced at least two other times since then.(shoddy dentistry is shoddy)

I've had some fillings; a shit doctor in DR used metal instead of the usual white cement-like stuff, so yeah.
I also had my wisdom teeth removed, but my lower canines seem like they'll stay crooked unless I get braces, and I don't want that... ;A;
I have some cavities now, and I'm afraid that I might need a root canal. I shall hope that is not so.

Ive had to have several teeth removed over the years.
Thing is I have to have injections roughly every 90seconds as my body cooks off the pain killers. My first extraction session was 4 teeth, taking about 90minutes.
I have long rooted teeth and hyper dense bone in my jaw ( whole skeletal structure for that matter )
So take it from me, get your kids in the habit of brushing their teeth twice a day.
Ive been bashed over the head with a steel pole, had 4 bruised ribs, 12 concussions, a 3mm chip out of my jaw and none of this hurt as much as my tooth aches :-/
One tooth I had extracted from my lower jaw shattered as it left the jaw and ricocheted all over the room.

Never broke any teeth. Took barely any care of them as a kid, but I've only had a few or more cavities every now and then. Far less than I would've expected. Never broken any bones either. I'd like to thank those on the heavy drinking of milk.

I lost all my milk teeth (temporary kid teeth) naturally, in time, and without any problems or need to remove any by a dentist, so that worked out great too.

About a year ago all four wisdom teeth broke in (and stole my stereos) and they caused a bit of a ruckus at first and I thought almost everyone has to remove them. But they're settling just fine and I don't think I need to worry about them either. It's actually been a few years since I last went to a dentist for a check, but my teeth are causing no problems and I only have a cavity or two, I guess.

I am quitting smoking agaaaaain very soon and that will make my gums bleed (more easily) as a side effect, because of the suddenly increased bloodflow in them or something, so looking really forward to that...

I absolutely hate going to the dentist, mainly because my dentist has the worst waiting times ever. I honestly have an average time in that waiting room of around 2 hours after the supposed time before I'm seen, that's the part that sickens me the most.

Oh I hear ya, but luckily the dentists in my place are very social and friendly so the time passes by.

The last time I went to the dentist I got 2 fillings and the guy was just terrible. The anesthetic barely worked in some places, he dribbled loads of it all over my mouth and I ended up swallowing it which he later suspected and said was bad. Then after the whole thing was finished, the anesthetic somehow went into my lip and made it numb for about 4 hours making it hard to eat.

Oh...Well then I guess me answer is a lot less embarrassing. Haven't ever had a cavity, but I've chipped some teeth. Didn't go to the dentist for them though, they weren't major chips. A few days of soft food and they stopped being sensitive and stopped scratching my tongue.

I had to go in for emergency dental surgery earlier this year.

In '92 after a rather unfortunate sporting injury I had the top halves of my two front-most bottom teeth sheered clean off. They capped them, and later rooted them. And all was good.

Over the last 20 years, my two bottom teeth progressively turned dark yellow to black because they were dead. Late December while watching Moon, half of one of the caps came off at random.

So I went in to the dentist immediately and had a dentist-in-training glue a new half-a-cap back on. They told me that the caps weren't meant to last forever anyway. So I scheduled a month later to have both of the teeth removed completely.


The dentist decided to drill the things down to pegs and put on permanent crowns at the end. And after that I suffered a certain amount of extreme agony for five days. This was not due to the teeth, themselves, but due to the fact that Mr Dentist absolutely tore my bottom gums to shreds. The gums turned purple and large pits formed around where the temps were put in. I also couldn't eat for five days, which was a drag.

Having the real crowns put in later on was an absolute ***** in and of itself. The part-timers felt bad for me.

When I was younger and in my early teenager years (I'm 17...is that still teen age? If so whatever) I noticed an unnatural tooth growing out from my upper left gums. I tried getting it out but it hurt, I thought it was in deeper but when I went to the dentist he said it wasn't deep at all, so I tried wriggling out, I almost did it but it hurt too much. Next time I went to the dentist and I asked him to get it out and he did...it felt a little too easy to get it out which made me feel bad.

As for my other teeth they are perfectly fine. I brush twice a day.
