A tech question.

Ok so being the stupid me, I wanted to listen to my music but I didnt want anybody to hear it. So I took out my Iphone brand earbuds and plugged them into my dell xps 400, running windows xp. So since no noise was coming out I pulled them out. But now I cant hear any noise out of my speakers.

I checked all the settings and the setting say the speaker is now default and that there is no coding problems with it. They are transmitting a noise, not anything from the comp, like they always do when I am doing nothing, so they arent busted. I have tried everything so does anybody have an Idea?

Did you check the volume?

I dont know, whenever something screws up on my computer I just hit restart, and pray that the problem isnt anything the restart cant fix.

1) Try them on another computer

2) Restart Windows

3) Right click the speaker icon and go volume mixer (Vista) (edit: sorry, just read you were on XP - its been years since I've used XP but I'm pretty sure the sound mixer is just under "Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices"

4) If your tower has two ports, one in the back and one in the front, try both, chances are one won't be set to work.

Those are the first things that come to mind.
