A terrible cliché

What is something that you consider to be an overused and/or non-amusing cliché?

I for one feel that "pie jokes" are used far too often and no longer garner any merit for comedy.

"Random" humour.

First, it's called surreal, and secondly only improv comedians should ever, ever use it. And Monty Python.

Slapstick. I just can't stand it. Though I'm sure if that counts so,
The annoying "comedy" sidekick.

I absolutely despise that unbearably annoying 'cute super smart genius' little kid, Franklin (I think) from My Wife and Kids. Franklin was this five or six year old that supposedly had two doctorates in addition to three published medical/psychological texts published.
I can deal with smart little kids in shows, the kid in Smart Guy or Malcolm from the early years of Malcolm in the Middle. But when they're way,way too smart for their age I just want to kill or break something.

Puns. Specifically really bad and/or obvious ones. Stealth puns and some visual puns are fine, but yeah... anyone who has survived Batman and Robin know what I'm saying.

Also: The little girl in horror films thing probably got started because children are innocent. They're not usually the central figure of our worst nightmares (well... for most of us anyway). So it adds a new layer of uncomfortableness when they get involved.

the "hero" in most movies.
Actually related to that: I'm tired of heroes that don't act like heroes: "Yes, you're dark and edgier and that's all very well and good but you just let all of those people die and you're kind of a dickhead. Are you sure you're not the villain?"

Smart-mouthed kids.

I don't know if they're a cliche or not, but whenever I see a movie with a 10-year old being a snarky little smartass I get serious migraines.

The cake is a lie. Seriously, that was 2007. Three years ago. I think it can die now.
