So Linkin Park's new CD came out today for those that care. I am listening to it now and have to say that it is REALLY REALLY good. It is A LOT better than Minutes and is reminicent of their first CD. I liked Minutes for its own merits and the fact that they went for a different tone for the lyrics and am happy they didn't drop that and keep with the same tone of lyrics but a lot better mixing and instrumentals. To those that say that its going to suck because you don't like the song The Catalyst give the CD a try because IMHO The Catalyst is not in the top 5 songs on this CD or even the top 8.

I've always wondered how they got away with releasing the exact same album three or four times...

Linkin Park hasn't been good since Meteora IMO. Minutes to Midnight was just terrible; a complete waste of money.

Well, I've been listening to it for over a week now, and I have to say... IT'S AWESOME!!!

And before you ask how, it's because I have Spotify Premium. We get access to some albums and songs weeks before everyone else :D

Comparatively yeah it sucked they tried something new it failed. Thousand Suns goes back to Meteora and their first CD which the name escapes me at this point in time. The type of lyrics in Minutes I thought were great but the execution was flawed horribly. Thousand Suns is on a scale of Minutes(1) to Meteora(20) I say its about a 15 or 16.

Their previous album Minutes to Midnight album is possibly in retrospect the worst album i have had the displeasure to listern to.

Most of the songs where just borderline cheesy emo crap. Like for example: Valentines day is about being alone on...you guessed it on a Valentines day, what utter shite!

Im not expecting their new one to be any different. Linkin park to me ended with meteora and im leaving it at that.

Horray time to revive this thread!

I really liked A Thousand Suns. I've heard a lot of people criticize LP for this and Minutes, but frankly, if they're complaining that Linkin Park's "sound" has been lost, they're just delusional, and I think that's what they're basing it on. They're looking at the album as some weird form of Nu Metal, which LP basically pioneered, and don't find it. But you need to look at it without a genre or seeing it as the Nu Metal genre that popularized them.
This is a great album; it's got a message behind it, very emotional sounds and themes, and experiments with the music. Frankly, this new direction is good for LP. They realized that they just can't stay a Nu Metal band forever, that they need to branch out with their music. I mean really, Breaking the Habit, one of their most popular songs, had very little Nu Metal elements and in fact has much more similarities to their songs from Minutes and A Thousand Suns. People were just angry when they found something different in Minutes, then disregarded it as crap when it was actually an incredibly fulfilling and musically diverse album. It would seem to be the same with this, except people are still looking for another Hybrid Theory.

I've said it before on other sites, I'm glad that Linkin Park is doing this, but I hope they settle down musically. Really, a combination of Hybrid Theory, Minutes to Midnight, and A Thousand Suns would just be awesome. Have some pure Nu Metal songs, a bit of hip hop, and some soulful vocals. I'm hoping that's where they end up with their new album, and I hope that by that time all of the old Linkin Park fanboys that are butthurt because LP didn't keep doing the same old boring thing disown themselves from the band.

IMO, Linkin Park < Nickleback < everything else ever
Woah woah woah! I take exception to that sir. Comparisons to "everything else, ever" aside, Linkin Park is definitely > Nickelback.

I mean, come on! At least Linkin Park never made any songs about a guy sucking dicks for crack money.

Its quite amazing how Linkin Park went from creating music I love (Hybrid Theory, Meteora) to music which is an example of what I totally hate.

In case its not obvious, NO I do NOT like the new album.

Didn't buy it, but listened to the iTunes previews. They sound...decent I suppose. I thought Minutes to Midnight and all previous albums were good, but this one is easily my least favorite.
