I didn't think pump actions where legal in Australia.

Still, got no guns on me right now but I have plans to get a good semi, now I am no longer in Australia. Going after elk as soon as I am settled in and have a chance... oh my god, I never thought it would be so gooooood.

A quick look online and yes, pump actions are illegal in Australia, though lever action is completely fine... though that might just be for shotguns. Still don't tell anyone you have it!
pump action rifles are still legal ;)

I barely ever get to go hunting, but when I do I go after boar with a 12 gauge shotgun using rifled slugs. More than enough punch to stop a charging hog.

Pest control is rarely a valid reason. If you don't want animals eating crops then find a way to keep them out, they are trying to survive on instinct and you are supposed to be an intelligent human so I'm sure you can think of something.

Using a bow...is just sadistic and cruel as the animal suffers more than it could possibly need to.

.
2 points.

1. Larger animals count as pests. A 400 pound feral pig counts as a pest, and I'd like to know what you think could stop one of those from getting were it wants.

2. I've seen a deer hit by an arrow, it dropped the second it was hit, it was probably dead before it hit the ground.

I'm actually looking to get into hunting myself, as I live on the edge of the royal national park. Do you know what I need to do in order to get a gun license and is there some sort of rifle club I can join (I live in NSW so the laws might be different from where you are)? Also I'm fourteen years old, so is there any age restriction before I can start hunting?

I've never been hunting - no one in my family is into it, so I've never had a chance. I'd like to try it, although I'm not sure if my sister would ever forgive me :p

I'd especially like to try bow hunting - I could pretend I was a ranger from D&D or something, heh.
