A Troll/Hate/Anger Thread... Should we have one?

Basically what I'm thinking is that: Should we have a section of the forums set aside for people that want to burn off some anger and annoyance?

Like say you really do not like(complete understatement) a person's post, and you wish to insult them, you can just go to the Troll/Hate/Anger Thread and leave a post burning off your rage so that you can now function normally.

So, Great Idea, or Greatest Idea? XD

Kidding.

But Good, Bad, or Okay idea?

I like the idea you suggest. I'm for it. Though I think there'd be a need for some function that kept people from knowing that you posted about them, because otherwise there'd be no difference.

Raaaaarrrgh! Death to the infidels! Your streets will flow with the blood of the innocents, with my blade as the ultimate weapon of your demise!

Oh shit...THIS isn't the Hate thread?

Whoops.

Well I absolutely HATE this idea.
Someone make his hate thread so I can tell him how much I hate him.

hate...

No I don't think so... There are tons of sites you can do to if you want to let off steam on someone.

It's called Youtube.
This one, for example.

And how can such a function be enabled?
I guess we'd need the thingamajig that sends you PMs about people having quoted you to be perpetually disabled for that thread.

Well, first off, I seriously doubt that even if we had one it would reduce trolling/hate/anger throughout the rest of the forums. People who want to publicly troll and hate aren't going to bother with going to a thread made specially to keep it out of the eyes of the public, they're going to go ahead and stick it in Off Topic or Gaming discussion anyways, because it'll get the most responses that way.

Secondly, we really don't need to have a thread that encourages that sort of behavior. One of the things I like about The Escapist is that on the whole it's a pretty mature community, we don't need something as immature as a trolling thread here.

people make troll threads all the time late at night, when all the trolls come out from hiding from moderators. Why do we need to make a specific genre just for them? I think it would actually be bad for the community.

But the user being insulted could still find the thread.
As Shakespeare put it, "there's the rub."

While I agree it could relieve stress, the thread could also contain a good amount of offensive content. Yeah, might start out alright but eventually it would become a wasteland of "Those faggots" and "Those retards" you know, words we don't generally like seeing on the normal forums. Also, Say member X gets into a little arguement with member Y in a normal thread. Member X goes to the troll threads and starts yelling and blerting about member Y. Member Y see's the thread and the argument just continues there where things just escalate and escalate.

See could cause more problems than it solves. If you want to relieve stress verbally, find one of those chat robots that have no emotion and just troll the shit out of it. That or go on youtube, it's mod free and no one gives a shit on there.

Pretty bad idea, I think, considering personally insulting a user is against the guidelines here.

And the fact that 'venting' is something that can be done in a blog, Word Document or to a friend in PMs. Having a public 'flogging board' [footnote]That's what I'm gonna call it.[/footnote] is a bad idea. Bitching behind about a user behind their back is pretty low and cheap as well. If you've got a problem with them, say it to their face in a PM and try and sort matters out there or better yet, add the to your Ignore List and totally forget about them.

The Ignore List is a pretty overlooked function of this site for some users it seems.

Bad idea. We want to keep as much trolling away as we can. We can't have a thread where people can blow off anger because people will end up walking out of said thread angry. There are plenty of places one can go to vent anger on these forums, none of them have to be here.

Yes, but user-names and avatars should be blanked, no links or images posted, and you shouldn't be able to view it until you have a thousand posts.

And it should be a forum all it's own.

I've always kind of seen this place as sort of one of the "civilized" communities on the web. This is an escape from the kind of nonsense you see on Youtube and 4chan. I don't think I'd like to see that change.

Three thoughts.

1) No.
2) Just...no.
3) Seriously, FUCK AND NO.

You want to troll and act like a two-year-old, that's what /b/ is for.
