Easy, you just disable her. A round through the leg or arm should do the trick.
I was thinking the same thing. Preferably the arm, in case she falls out of sight with her hands still on the gun.

Though if it's not possible fast enough, I'd go for a quick swift kill.
Sucks for the baby, but who says that any of the 30 people aren't expecting kids any time soon?

A round through the leg, and she can still fire on them, you lose.

A round through the arm, the child grows up into another psycho trollop, repeat situation.

A round through the head, you: get promoted for a good shot, take out a crazy *****, and prevent another loony from ever being born. You are an hero to the community.

That's exactly what I was thinking

You might be able to save the baby, though it would probably have very deformed lungs and thus if it did survive no doubt its live would be very hard and possible very short.

You are strange for asking this question.
I'm always thinking of this stuff like "what if I decide not to do a chemistry degree, learn to use a sniper and am one day assigned to eliminate a threat holding hostages at a bank but the threat is a pregnant woman? hmm"

If I had to kill an innocent pregnant woman to save the 30 people I wouldn't do it, but since the woman would be the singular cause of their death I would take the shot.

I'd shoot her.

And not to thread jack you or anything, but I know of one that's a good deal harder:

"You are an emergency worker that has just been called to the scene of an accident. When you arrive you see that the car belongs to your wife. Fearing the worst you rush over to see she is trapped in her car with another man.

She sees you and although barely conscious, she manages to mouth the words ''I'm sorry''...

You don't understand, but her look answers you question. The man next to her is her lover with whom she's been having an affair.

You reel back in shock, devastated by what her eyes have just told you. As you step back, the wreck in front of you comes into focus. You see your wife is seriously hurt and she needs attention straight away. Even if she gets attention there's a very high chance she?ll die.

You look at the seat next to her and see her lover. He's bleeding heavily from a wound to the neck and you need to stem the flow of blood immediately. It will only take about 5 minutes to stop, but it will mean your wife will definitely die.

If you tend to your wife however, the man will bleed to death despite the fact it could have been avoided.

Who would you choose to work on?"

I'd personally work on my wife, despite the fact that they'll both probably die if I did....

Very few people are stranger than that poor misguided soul.
Also, he's bloody weird.

Of course, without a doubt

The baby would had a shitty life anyway if she a mother like that, besides what is a 7 month pregnant woman robbing a bank thinking?

I am just finding the image of a very pregnant woman wielding a machine gun hilarious. I would wait for her cravings to kick in then offer her an avocado Sundae if she put the gun down.

Now that's much more interesting.

The logical conclusion, assuming the desired result is saving lives, would be to work on teh man, but from a more human standpoint I'd probably go with my wife as well.

The answer is yes.
That's what I thought. I mean this isn't the most complex moral quagmire I've ever seen.
"Oh no, do I shoot someone who will kill more people than I would by killing them?"
...really? Really?

Why not just shoot her hands or whatever she is using to operate the weapon?
That doesn't work in the real world.
Sorry if I sound like an arrogant military-nut here (I am), but on planet earth snipers aim for the chest or even the head if they're feeling lucky. Any other target is just too damn small.

I'd go for the one who has more potential to aid society. In lieu of such a way to differentiate, I'd go for the one that has a better chance. I certainly wouldn't leave them or it would be a burden on my conscience.

I think you underestimate the internet. The second she looks like she is about to pull the trigger she better be ready to pull a bullet out of her head.

Hell, it could be one person. I guess it kinda depends on the person (honest to god a well behaved young person would be worth alot more to me then an old dying hobo), but no one deserves to die because their attacker is pregnant and a pregnant women doesn't get to kill people.

Easily my wife, I'd just kill the bloke if he survived and confirmed the affair anyway, and if he didn't and it was me jumping to conclusions, I just lost my wife.

OP: Shoot Head. Then go admire the brain splatter whilst being thanked by hostages. Win Win (sort of).

Take the shot. The fate of thirty innocents outweighs the fate of one.

However, remember that police snipers are often trained to "shoot creatively", and are capable of shooting a revolver out of a sitting man's hand between his legs [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff4XuPtAOUk]. A .338 Lapua round hitting the middle of an assault rifle would certainly disable it.

If I didn't think it would work, though, I'd put a round through her brainpan without qualms. Contrast "my actions led to the death of an unborn baby" to "my actions led to the death of thirty innocent adults".

I know. I mean are people that emotionally challenged?
Wait, emotionally?
I was going off of plain logic.
The world usually works better for you that way.
