It seems the snobbery on some of these posts is out of hand, whenever I post that i like a game that everyone else seems to dislike theres always that voice in the back of my head saying "your just going to start a flame war" which in my opinion is insane. Everyone loves to talk about what games they hate on this Forum, but why does it take such balls to admit what you like? I know i'm not guiltless but i'll be dead before I tell someone there an idiot for liking a game that I don't. Thoughts?

Edit*** No i'm not sad or emotional about this at all, I could care less what people think of what I play, I just think the snobbery is sometimes a bit much. And I think a majority of people might hold back posting on something due to the fact that a lot of people on this board seem to love video games but hate everything that comes out.

Personally I don't care what people like or hate. I'm only concerned with thier humor or ability to express thier point of view. Best is when they can do both.

I couldn't care less if people don't like the games I do. I don't like Halo or Half Life, but I really don't understand how that gets on some peoples tits? It's all down to personal preference, hence there are so many genres.

I believe I know what you are talking about, seeing as something similar has stopped me from posting a lot more than I do on the Escapist. However, I don't think it needs to be changed that much. If somebody wants to see this and suddenly be less snobby, that's nice for everybody, but chances are, they won't. I'm not about to send everyone a message saying "don't be a jerk anymore!!!" because I'm too sensitive to post some things.

Really, people should just accept it's their opinion. Same with music taste, no two people are going to like exactly the same thing.

I don't really mind people not liking the games that I do. It's when the reasons they give for doing so are either incredibly stupid or backhanded insults at anyone who enjoyed it that I start to object.

There will never be a best game ever, ever. Not even Duke Nukem Forever as interpreted by Yahtzee would be the best game ever, to some people. I might like Valkyria Chronicles but my brother thinks it is a stupid J-RPG, whereas I think his insistence on playing GTA IV all the time when he visits is blatantly dull Scarface worship.
