Yeah I had both Lydia and that Maurice guy from the Gildergreen quest die on me, I'm sorry maurice, but you didnt have to jump off that tower with me...

Anyway, a few gameplay hours later, I enter Whiterun and BAM. The two bodies of Lydia and Maurice are just lying there....scary...

So I put them in the braziers next to the gate :D
Maurice was kind of a dunce. In my game, he charged into a battle between dragon and giant, fists raised. There's bits of him scattered amongst the trees and in the hedges.

A little while ago I recruited Athis of the companions as my follower.

During a trip to a dungeon, I swung my 2H Sword and accidentally killed him.

Here is whre things start to get a bit weird. First, when I went back to retrieve the items he was carrying, my game froze whenever I tried to.

Fair enough, probably just a minor bug.

I went to get a new follower, but none would come with me. They all said that I already have a follower.I went back to where he'd died, and his body was still there. Still, nobody will come with me. They all say the same thing.

The creepiest thing of all just happened. I walked outside the East Empire Company, and what was on the edge of the docks?

HIS BODY.

HOLY CRAP.

Help me , I'm getting pretty creeped out.
I think Arkay is a little bit bored and is messing with you. Nothing major. We all know Arkay is the joker of the Divines.
Ohhhh, Arkay - that cheeky bastard! OP, you with the imperials - he's probably trying to get revenge:)

What if you try to do one of those quests (companions have a lot) where you have a quest follower and your normal follower goes back where they came?

- Genuinely.

It's probably just another bug in the game code, though I have to agree that is pretty freaky. All these stories are awesome and I wish they happened to me too!

There is no action without consequence; no cause without effect. Blood you have taken, and blood must be repaid. If you do not give it willingly in the Black Sacrament, rest assured it will be claimed from you drop by drop through your tears and screams and clenched fists.

You fret because you've seen his body? You should fret what it is doing when you aren't looking.

I was walking into a small village in the land of Skyrim, I was tasked with the menial task of delivering a satchel of goods to a member of the village. At this point I have had many adventures, as I walk into the village my blood runs cold. I remember back to when I was with my brothers and sisters in the Companions, a guild I had long since became master of and cut ties with. Long ago one of them had died on a mission during the story, I was assured he'd be given a proper burial at the time. Yet here I was watching as his lifeless corpse scraped across the ground toward me, in my fear I hit him with my sword, his icon turned red and he yelled at me, saying I had just made my last mistake. His corpse followed me around for the next five minutes until finally disappearing into a bridge...I worry I have not seen the last of him.

Holy crap...
Okay, all of these hilarious/strange bugs I'm hearing of are making me want Skyrim. A fantasy RPG isn't really my cup of tea (or coffee, since I personally prefer coffee), but a fantasy RPG with loads of really bizzare glitches? Now I'm interested.

Oh, so that would explain the dead body, lying around in front of the gates in Whiterun. I have no idea who he is but it's probably just a similar bug.
I thought his body would despawn after a while but he never disappeared. So I just threw his body into the sewers, got annoying. I wonder whether he's still there...

OT: Daw, isn't that just wonderful! He's trying to protect you after his untimely death!

This isn't as terrifying as the time I was murdered in Uplink, and declared a suicide victim - but I was still playing! Who's body have I taken over!?

Here's what you do. Get yourself to a temple, become a brother, spend the rest of your life in solitude with no worldly possessions. 'Tis the only way to ensure your safety.

OT: Not sure what to suggest other then reloading an earlier save... Try killing him again perhaps?

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at something so genuinely creepy before.
Thank you, that really brightened up my day.

If you're on PC, just use the console to fix it. If you're on console...you're kind of just screwed.

At least your mannequins in your house aren't walking around like some people.

Bethesda, why would you make the mannequins stationary actors? You know your games are buggy.

There is but one explanation, and that explanation is very simple. When you defeat Aludin, he will appear and reveal himself to be Sithis, and absorb the world in a void. ALL HAIL THE DREAD FATHER!

Or it could just be a bug. Maybe.

Who ye gonna call?
GHOST BUSTERS!
Oh, wait. Start an Escapist Forum asking the clever exorcists around the world for help. That works too.

Well, I don't know how to solve your problem. Consult your local in game/out game priest if this haunting is too creepy and you deem the spirits too deadly to stay in your area.

play amnesia the dark descent then play eternal darkness sanity's requiem, and then that would seem as bad. i'd go into the console, click him, and resurrect. or load a save before he died.
