I found a set of video tapes earlier! At first I was like 'what?', but then I was like.... yeah, I hate that meme too.

As an added bonus, I also found a VCR kicking around the house, and it turned out that the tapes I found were the original Star Wars Trilogy. So that was 6 hours gone. (Less fortunately, the pile of dreamcast games I stumbled upon were rendered unplayable when I found that the power supply on my dreamcast was screwed up)
This tidy-up has also revealed a copy of pokémon blue (which was odd, since I only ever owned red) with gameboy colour, a few music cassette tapes, and assorted other gizmos of a by-gone era. Including a really, really old mobile phone. Well, mid-90's, anyway.

Anyone else still have random VHS things lying around (or Betamax?) Anyone here too young to remember such items?

And what other random technological things have you found randomly that resulted in lengthy periods of nostalgia/frustration? (rewinding videos is annoying! Can't say I've missed that experience)

There... There are people here that are too young to remember VHS tapes? That makes me feel old... I'm only 19 though.

I still have a billion Disney movies on VHS in the basement. Also, recently hooked up the N64 again to play Perfect Dark and I've been playing Pokemon Gold on Gameboy Pocket.

Why yes, I have quite a VHS collection. Ranging from Dune to Maya the Bee, and many much weirder things such as some of the first ever computer animations, I intend to keep them until they are worth something.

I have a stack of over 80 video tapes, numerous casette tapes, multiple LPs and singles...there's a Pong machine somewhere - a black/white TV with tuner - still got my C64/Electron/Amiga/SNES/Gameboy - a non 3D graphics card - a 28.8 modem and probably a whole heap of other things you kids wouldn't even have heard of.

No 8 tracks though.

Yeh...I really don't miss VHS. I think I still have Reservoir Dogs and a Penn & Teller show on VHS somewhere.

I also have my Mega Drive and Dreamcast somewhere. For some reason I thought that someday I might play Shenmue again...I won't.

I'm old enough to remember when Betamax was the new thing. But alas I don't have any but VHS tapes running around for no reason it seems except for the fact I'm to lazy to find and throw them away lol.

Star Wars Trilogy
Hook
and various Disney movies

All of which have been replaced with DVD.

Almost of our VHS tapes got ruined after we moved house in 1999. They were all in the basement from having just been moved (a few months ago >_>) and the basement flooded with 3 feet of water.

I'm not sure if my dad threw away the old VHS tapes he had for me and my brother though. I remember he had a few of the older Scooby Doo movies and The Ketchup Vampires.

Anyone who thinks that Twilight ruined vampires should check that movie out.

I just moved to university, we don't have a tv... so I don't have any DVD's, let alone VHS XD

Although, we do have a small collection of them at home, and a MASSIVE collection of vinyl's that we never play :p

That was the Peter Pan sequel film, right? That was awesome! Or at least I can keep telling myself that, as long as I never actually watch it again. Odd though - years have passed without watching it, and I can still recall the exact tone of voice in which Hook says 'Rufio' whilst taunting him shortly before killing him. (It's not a spoiler, the film's really old, and not popular enough to be on your 'to watch' list!) It still creeps me out.

I discovered loads of SNES cassettes at my dad's house the other day, sadly I didn't find any working SNESes so my trip down memory lane was semi-decent at best :)

Yea same one with Robin Williams coming back as Peter Pan & Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell. ( They could have found someone better imo. Edit: I mean for Tinkerbell LoL ) I still like it but I'm a Robin Williams fan so that may be the reason.

We used to have all sorts of records, cassette tapes, and VCR films down in the room where my family would watch movies together. I think we might still have a record player around the house somewhere.

Are you kidding? I have just as many VHS tapes as DVDs. I even still watch some of them from time to time.

I own a Virtual Boy and an N64. They're awesome. Really, I don't understand why people think the Virtual Boy is bad.
