This is gonna sound crazy but a friend told me that one of the ensidia players posted somewere a post called "the real reason ensidia got banned..." in wich he claimed that the ban was really caused by a falling out between blizzard and ensidia over promoting blizzard's next MMO during wich someone at Blizzard suposedly told ensidia's GM that they will never have another world first in WOW. Did anyone hear that or was my friend just making stuff up?
I doubt blizzard will go that far but I have to admit their reaction does sound a little strange. First off as it was mentioned earlier on this thread blizzard really has no excuse for having their big finale, definitely the most important boss fight in the game be any less than perfect (I know this isn't he actual final boss, but let's face it Cataclysm is just a way to milk the game for a bit longer). Second: Hardcore guilds playing for money contribute a lot to a game's popularity cause they create Fanboys who nurture the dream of getting to be pro players, an with that dream they also nurture the developer's bank accounts cause we al know practice makes perfect. So if you, Blizzard profit from the popularity of Ensidia (and they do) You should really stop punishing them for YOUR mistakes. Even more so when THEY are the ones that point them out to you.
What would have been the case if Ensidia had decided not to report the bug and delay publishing their world first video long enough for other guilds to finish too. Then what would blizzard do? strip all guilds of the loot and title for fear they also used the exploit?
But I see lots of people defending blizzard's decision and beeing an on again off again WoW I can't argue that what ensidia did wasn't the horrendous lack of sportsmanship that some people paint it to be. The real douche move on Blizzards part was not allowing Ensidia to try again after their 72 hour ban and making them wait for a week to try again thus basically ensuring they would have no chance in hell to complete the 25 men hard mode in a time span befitting a professional gaming guild.
