Kara Japhet and Gregory Lincoln, both long-time staffers of The Escapist, were wed at sunset on October 3 at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens here in Durham, North Carolina.

Born the youngest in a Navy family, the bride has enjoyed living all over the west coast, as far away as her birthplace of Anchorage, Alaska. She manages advertising operations for the company.

Also from the west coast, the groom is a native Californian. With a background in creative services and communications he oversees all production-related operations for The Escapist.

The couple met over twelve years ago in San Luis Obispo, California, moving to North Carolina and joining the team in 2004. In lieu of an immediate honeymoon, they have returned to their posts on the bridge of the USS Escapist.
So anyway, I saw this article of interest and noticed that we weren't allowed to comment on it. I understand why, but I just wanted to congratulate them and express my wishes that their marriage is a long and happy one.

Also, to the mods: sorry if this was kinda breakin' the law. I just thought it would be nice for everyone to have the chance to congratulate them.

Although I am sure that 99% of Escapists would wish nothing other than their congratulations; there are always a select few who would feel the need to make some remark about their opinions on marriage, divorce and all sorts of other comments that would not be appropriate.

Let's not forget the people who did so on the thread created by former members Darth Mobius and Darth Empyrean when they announced the fact they were having a baby and then sadly had to announce that there were complications. 99% of replies were condolences but a select few posted some rather cruel and sick replies either based upon how it was somehow amusing or that they didn't care.

Anyways, congratulations to the happy couple. I hope everything turns out for the best.

Congratulations to the happy couple, I wish them all the best.

As for this thread, I guess I can understand, people can be right jackasses sometimes. Older members will remember Darth Mobius and Darth Empyrean, when their baby died there were messages of condolence but some idiots and retards posted flame messages and were being really offensive, so it's understandable that when the staff post something personal they'll want to avoid people flaming them. But as I say, well done and I hope the happy couple have many great years together :D

Aww, that picture is so cute!
And yes, people may flame, but theirs always people who will stand up for them.
And I feel daft asking this, but what are their Escapist names?

Good luck to the happy couple and on risk of looking like a total hypocrite I shall not make a snarky remark...

To the OP: You shouldnt have done this. Like everyone else had said, there will be a few people who will bring this down. Get ready to report some trolls.
Is this not a good fly trap?

I've already reported myself. Just so the mods know that this thread exists and can lock the thread or take whatever action necessary.

congratulations too the happy couple, everyone deserves a shot at happyness, why not escapists?

i think people would have been jackasses because there is always going to be SOMEONE who has obsidian where their heart should be...

just an after thought, do you think that they will show the that picture to their kids and say "this is when mommy and daddy got maried..." then pull out a printout and say "and these are the forum comments..."

if they do then hi to the kids...

I guess this may be locked if the moderators are worried about flaming, but I wish that didn't have to be the case. I found the article, and felt the wish to congratulate them on this. A wedding is a beautiful occasion after all...

I wish them a long and happy life together. It's something they truly deserve.

I'm not quite sure why everyone else is worried about trolls (what exactly is a troll going to come on here and say? 'I object! Stop the wedding!' 'Yeah...you're a bit too late to make an ass of yourself').

Anyway, back on topic, congratulations and best of luck to the happy couple!
