A Zombie Apocalypse: How awesome would this be?

If you thing about it though. Zombie attack plans could easily be adapted to pandemic survival plan. My plan? Drive out to my families farm in the middle of nowhere Kansas. I would have an easy to defend, easy to grow my own food, has a well with drinkable water. I could easily live there and defend there. Plus any of my family that made it, we could build incasing fences and boobie traps / advance warning traps. Good times.

Also I believe Bioshock isn't a zombie game.

The splicers were fairly mindless, to be fair, attacking anyone on sight, and it definitely gave a feeling of "this civilization got fucked up" akin to that of zombie movies.

They weren't mindless, they were out of it or insane due to Adam addiction and how constant splicing warped their brains. An obvious point is that unlike zombies, splicers are alive and thinking people albeit mad but they are still able to do complex things like operate machinery and use guns and think for themselves and fight tatically when they see a chance to do so whereas zombies don't think (most of the time), try to rush and horde people and devour brains. Also the feeling of a civilisation being messed up in Bioshock is different from zombie movies. We know in Bioshock that Rapture's civilisation got f'd up due to wars over who controlled the city and Adam and in zombie movies and games it's usually an infection or curse that caused the civilisation to become f'd up not the fall of the actual civilised nature of the city.

As long as it's not an instant Zombie takeover, I'm gonna be ok. My girlfriend and I have a plan.
1) Identify warning signs (new "rabies" strain, cover ups, placebos for it, etc)
2) convince everyone we can.
3) Pool or resources together and buy a house up in the arctic, hopefully near a power plant.
4) Get the hell up there before the panic starts.
5) Hopefully we can build a greenhouse so we can grow some crops round the clock.
6) Sit back and survive.

Now, if the takeover is instant (IE, only takes a few days), then the plan is this:
1) RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!
2) Get to safe zone and survive.

And if it's left 4 dead zombies...
1) ...hold each other tight and wait for the end. (hey, this is CANADA man. We don't have guns all over the place to use to defend ourselves with!)

I forget where I saw it but... Basically it was a scientifically minded point by point column of why a zombie invasion wouldn't work.

The weather would either freeze or dry them out, they can't heal even basic wounds, Bacteria would destroy them, Wild animals would destroy them (humans have no natural weapons and the slow shuffling of zombies makes them easy prey for faster larger mammals) of course the animals thing is dependent on whatever caused it to be limited to humans.

So...even if a lot of people were killed in the initial wave. Survivors wouldn't have to wait more then a year or two for the zombies to die out...again.

Except that we don't know what's keeping them alive, parasites are extremely adept at keeping the host in a position to survive. Don't get me wrong though, I don't think a zombie apocalypse would or could ever happen

Wait...parasites...Hmm...Zombie Causeing Parasites...I was thinking of 'disease' type zombies. But...A parasite that makes zombies...that's a fucking awesome idea.

Yeah parasites are experts in changing the host to suit there needs. Since biting tends to draw a lot of attention it could it could make itself sexually transmitted and stay dormant until enough people are infected that biting becomes a viable transmition option again.

It would be fun... for the first few days. But when food gets scarce, the power grids shut down, you can't even use toilets properly, you'll begin to hate it and miss your old life.

The Zombie apocalypse would be a great place to go for a holiday, but I don't think anyone would want to live through it.

Ugh if we were to have one I'd rather just join the ranks of the infected or undead. Being a fella who loves other fellas I'd be SOL when people decide to 'rebuild humanity', (either imprisoned,killed, or enslaved... despite my relative faith in people I have a bad feeling that would happen. extreme conditions can bring out the worst in humanity.).

So I'd rather just mutate and hope around on the tops of buildings...and perhaps if I retained my own mind, I'd try and save my female friends from a doom of constant baby production.

No it would not be 'fun'. >_<
