About bootlegs and bombs

I love bootleg games. They're just so odd and some of the hack's and fakes I played are actually very fun to play. So I thought it would be fun to make my own games like this.

I know how to extract the files from my own games, and I like to tinker with them and make something else out of it. (Add levels, change sprites/colors, etc.)

NO I don't intent to sell them, distribute them or even give away as gifts. I just want to make my own set of cartridges as a hobby, not a business.

But as I searched through the internet I found nothing on how to make these things. Not a single hint on how to get these files onto a cart.
Makes sense since it's mostly used for illegal practices, right?

Yeah, and then it hit me on how easy it is to find recipe's for making home made explosives, synthetic drugs and even tracking people. Which seem WAY worse than making a gameboy cart for your own amusement.

Strange world, I guess.

But do any of you know how to make these?



And just for the record: I'm a 22 year old Belgian nerd, I won't do well in prison. I don't want to sell any fake games, it's just for fun.

So what we are talking about here are mods and hacks.
Well if you want to go fully legit with ye olde cartridges then you will have a hard time, back then they didn't just distribute readers/writers so that gear needs to come from third parties that produce in small numbers which makes things very pricey.

And once you got the roms you find platform specific file extractors(on the internets) that can make out what is actually on it, at which point the real fun starts and you try to figure out which parts will affect what aspect of the game.

Basically, you need to buy some blank carts and a flashing device. That's pretty much it as far as I know.
