FFX was my first and still the best IMO. The characters are great, the story and pacing were perfectly done (especially for someone who had never played an RPG before, as you're pretty much in the same boat as the main character for not understanding the world you've been thrown into), the combat is one of the best turn based systems ever devised and there's a shit ton of miniquests and optional bosses to sink 100+ hours into. I've recently been playing it again with the intention of finally doing a "perfect" run through, where I will complete everything and aquire every item/weapon and level my characters to the absolute max.

X-2 Was ok. In retospect I would have preferred X to have been left alone where it ended, but X-2s perfect ending is at least satisfactory, the combat is good and the story is mostly alright. Not great, but it didn't completely ruin one of my favourite games of all time, so I can live with it.

Of the others, 12 started really well, but then rapidly descended into tedium and hatred for me. I could literally rant for a good long while on all the things that annoyed me with that game, but I'll spare you the details and suffice to say, at some point EVERYTHING pissed me off.

I quite liked 13 though strangely. I was really excited about it when I first heard about it, but then my interest declined as time went on, until the point where I nearly never bought it. When I actually did play it though it wasn't all that bad. Yes it's linear (but so was X, most of 12, large portions of 7 and 8...) and the first few hours you have no idea what's going on and have to read the codexes, but it does get better, the combat is good and most of the characters become less annoying over time. Snow can still fuck right off though.

Hi first ever topic created so if I make mistakes I am sorry.

So I am of the opinion that there has not been a good Final Fantasy since FF10. 10-2 was really bad but I played for the bonus ending because I wanted the happy ending. FF 11 I will not judge because i am not in to online games. FF 12 was just Return of the Jedi.

Final Fantasy 13. Words cannot describe how much I hate this game. The characters are crap, the story is crap, the combat is crap, the endless corridors and hallways are crap. It looked amazing and Square were hoping it would distract us from the fact it was crap. I mean how annoying was hope. I hate that kid. And Snow. Snow is the biggest douche in the history of douches. He is the king of douche land. He is a super douche. If you got the all the douches in the history of the entire universe and combined them to make a super, mega, ultimate douche Snow would still be more of a douche.

And just when it looks like the series might find its feet again with FF verses 13, which from the little stuff that is out looks like it could be good, they say the are making FF 13-2!

So that is my rant about one of my favorite game series. Please tell me I am not alone in thinking these things.
I'm sorry but I just can't take even one word in your post seriously. You completely resemble a 10 year old just yelling that stuff sucks without giving the slightest bit of reasoning behind it. I liked FF XIII, I found the combat to be fun without being too cluttered, sure you could have the game choose your actions for you but I didn't feel like it took too much away, I was able to focus on our stuff and I enjoyed the game, and characters from start to finish. Also, I see no problem with a game being linear, at least SE had the guts to experiment unlike say Bungie who basically made the same Halo game over and over with new graphics, weapons, and some new music.

It is however the easiest FF game out there bar none. It loses points with me because of how ridiculously easy it is. It's an okay FF game though (just no the best IMO - *cough*FF:Tactics*cough*)

Note to Square: While Quick hit is broken and all - don't ever let me plan THAT many moves ahead in battle because it destroys any challenge the game may have had.
Well, it's easy for me now, seeing as I know exactly what's coming at every turn and how far my characters should be along the sphere grid by certain plot points, having played it through about 5 times, but as my first FF game it wasn't so easy. In fact I got to the point where I was fighting Yunalesca on my first run and hadn't levelled enough and couldn't beat her and all of the enemies were way too powerful for me to train on, so I ended up going back and starting the whole game over so I knew what I was doing.

Really I think 13 was easier. I think I only got stuck when fighting Barthandelus, but that only required a character change to overcome.

Seconded. On pretty much all aspects (especially about Tactics). I honestly think a lot of the "glory!" FFX gets is that it had voice acting, an FF-style story, and a good (even if it was too easy) battle system. It also doesn't help that every FF after it has been increasingly LESS like the classic games.

I loved FF-10-2.

FF13 just had bad characters, but I thought everything else was pretty decent. 12 suffered from the opposite, decent characters, bad everything else. Except for that really awesome opening sequence where its like Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings.

There weren't good any JRPGs, EVER.
Ummm Persona 4?
It's as standard as this crap goes, and, CHRIST, in a genre already full of cliches... Thats not even trying! I guess it is ok for anime fans. Since anime is 3.5 stories + new hairdo from time to time. Oh, wait. JRPGs are also like that! Guess you have to be Japanese or a retard... Oh, wait, Otaku, is it? To get into this.
You do realize you're breaking forum rules by calling someone a retard, obviously?
Also, you nothing about either anime or JRPGs if your current display of intelligence is anything to go by.
I also nothing on many elephants. Also I nothing on calling anyone retard. I everything on correcting myself.
Fine, how about "You're an ignorant person who's doing nothing to help or contribute to this thread?" Seriously, GTFO, no one respects your opinion here.
Neither do I respect yours. Now that's internet for ya. And just to clarify, this is opinion thread, isn't it? Is your definition of contribution goes "to agree with what I am saying"?
No, but you should at least have an interest in the FF series if you want to contribute. It's clearly a thread for fans of the series.

My interest fell off sharply after VI, really. X was the last playable one, in my opinion.

Well they've fallen into the graphics trap now. The games have to look beautiful because that's the tone they've set for this generation, but it doesn't leave much for anything else.

The days of expansive environments and hulking 70 hour RPGs are gone, at least for mainstream consoles anyway.
