Damn it, are people still asking for a "dark" Zelda? We got that! Twice! What do you think Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess are? There's even dark themes in other Zelda games too, like Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.

Those games aren't dark enough for you? Well then go play Darksiders. Although, technically plenty of Zelda games are actually darker in tone than Darksiders. But Zelda was never supposed to be "dark" or "gritty" or "mature". You're never going to get gore, swearing, drug addiction or suicide in a Zelda game. Doing those things won't make it better either. Stop asking for it.

If a "dark" tone is so important then you will just have to play a different type of game. You're never going to get Grand Theft Hyrule, so give up.

For my next trick, I would save Wario because the old plumber's out and the quasi-villainesque money-seeking fat bastard is in. Wario Land was good work, dammit.
I agree. I may be partly biased because of my nostalgia of the Wario Land games, but I always thought the Wario games had a nice and innovative quirk about them that set them apart from Mario and just Nintendo games in general.

Oh, and I liked the Fusion suit.

So the three franchises I'd save would be Wario, Zelda and Metroid.

Captcha: garlic, yum. How...appropriate. ;)

It's a good point...
Maybe then that's the direction that the series needs to take. "We liked the darker and spookier themes in Majora and Twilight. More of that, please."

Still, "Grand Theft Hyrule" makes me giggle. Link pulling out his "NAVI" iPhone and jumping into his "Epona-edition" Mustang. I'm sure I'll get shot by one or two folks for that comment, but eh. I like to dream sometimes, even if the dream is silly.
