Tell me of a time when you did something close to griefing but didn't know it until it was to late, or you just didn't focus while doing it. Mine would be when I was on tf2 and I got a medpack while there was a person on fire and had less of a chance of surviving. He died from the fire but it wasn't that bad compared to real griefing. Edit: it doesn't have to be something your entire team needs to know about.

I once killed a teamate by mistake in a game of Halo. I apologized and saw a sniper rifle by his corpse and took it because the other team was nearby and I didn't want them getting it and using it against us.

He wasen't to thrill that I took it.

Playing Halo. Sniping. About to get a headshot. Ally's head enters crosshair as soon as I pull the trigger.

I selected "Need" for a gem once in WoW (my main is an engineer, so they're occasional components), without realizing that that was something of an in-game social faux pas. The group accepted my explanation and apology, though.

I threw a grenade into the middle of a war zone in Halo 3, and set off a chain reaction with those explosive barrels killing my whole team.

"Oops."

This has happened somewhat to me in Phantasy Star online. I was new to the game and went to level ten (the level you start partying) pretty quick because of a nice level 30 who guided me through the basics. I was still a noob and when I was partying I was picking up all the item drops, I didn't know some were weapons I couldn't even use and when they yelled at me (with angry emoticons) I explained that I'm new and gave all the unusable weapons away.

Omg. I doubt this counts... in fact i don't think it does. But i have a story. And this thread somehow reminded me of this...

I was playing Halo 3 on XBL on Last Resort, and my team was loosing 8-0. I got my hands on a shotgun and got a 7 kill streak inside the primary building. I was kicking so much ass, and making our team come back. I was the only one with kills. it was 10-7 when i was sneaking, and i turned around and saw one of my team mates RIGHT behind me, it freaked me out and i shot him. And the dumb fucker booted me!!!! It was an accident!!! I hope they lost that match.

But OT: I don't think its even griefing unless its intentional.

I have often and accidently shot teammates in L4D. 50/50 it was my fault/their fault

I apologise every time, however. They never when I get shot, so I'd like to think I'm a better person.

Also, I try to talk civilised-like with people who MIGHT be trolls, before leaving them with a scathing reply and disconnecting from the server when they ARE trolls.

If you disconnect before they reply, you can assume that you were witty and acidic enough to shock them senseless

In modern warfare 2 I decided to toss a knife randomly into the air, apparently it landed on a sniper laying down in the grass who had the last kill for our team in his sights.

we lost 7400 to 7500...he [HEADING=1]RAGED[/HEADING]

I went into a TF2 all-spy server as a sniper. They told me to switch to spy (I tried to get some sniper kills before I was told), and I quickly shame-quit.

Also, I was kinda inept with getting to someone who needed healing, causing said player to call me by username in a somewhat angry, frustrated way.

I was playing socom, my third match ever. I had been playing with a friend in some small user created matches. He decided I was good enough to fight on my own, so he spectated a game with me and this other guy versus a clan of four. I told the other guy about my newness, and he said "that's okay, I'm here to teamkill you" When the match starts, I, with the three factors of that threat, the fact that I was new to the game, and he was wearing some weird ass camo, shot him right in the head.

I apologised, not knowing if he could hear me from beyond the grave. (it was a no respawn room) I ambushed and killed one of the other clan, than ran to a little defendable corner when the other three chased me. I killed two, then tried to blow the other one up with a nade but instead killed myself. My teammate later congratulated me on headshotting him within a second of the game starting, so this doesn't really count.

I'm so bad at Team Fortress 2 that I suppose my play style should be classed as griefing. Often I'll stand still in the middle of a conflict, taunting away like a moron, just because I can't help laughing at how ludicrous the situation is. I really love TF2, but I'm a liability to whatever team I'm on.

GTA4 freemode. I was piolting a heli with a team of 3 inside.I flew as far out as possible just to see what happens. My pads battery died and i couldnt find any to replace them. So the heli just hovered in the sky. In the end the 3 of them got sick of waiting and jumped and had to SWIM FOR FUCKING AGES to get back to land. I now do this on purpose for lulz. Imagine jumping away from an afk piolt only to have him disapear in the distance with the ringing of "lololol" in your ears!
