Ace Combat Assault Horizon trailer released!

I just watched it. Holy cow, I don't know what to say. Namco definitely doesn't look like they're comfortable with rehashing Ace Combat 6. They seem to be taking some big risks, what with the real world setting, rail-shooter segments, and complete absence of sappy dialogue. Personally, I'm loving it.

Now, Ace Combat is famous for having some kick-ass trailers, but this one is really a treat. The visuals are beautiful, the environments look gorgeous, and the explosions are awesome! I can not wait for more news!

QTEs or not, I just came. Seriously, I'm looking forward to this. Just hope they keep up the tradition of having awesome music as well--the trailer makes me confident they will.

As long as they are the "Helpful suggestion" kind, and not the "Press X to not die" kind.

Actually, they might not be too bad in context. It looks like they'll have rail-shooting segments akin to the Star Wars trilogy arcade. Which I think if they implement it right, could do for this game what QTEs did for God of War.

Which would be awesome.

On the one hand I don't even care about flying games generally. The only one I ever liked was Rogue Squadron.

On the other hand that looked sweet, even if it did have QTE's.

So I went to look up the release date, turns out there isn't one yet. So now I get to add it to my list of check back in the future games. As if I needed more things to make the wait harder.

I heard they were shooting for sometime around mid-2011.

I'm a bit of an Ace Combat fan myself, but... this just looks too much like they're trying to mix Ace Combat with HAWX and CoD: Modern Warfare. Plus, I actually liked the whole "fictional world that looks suspiciously like our own" thing they had going on before, so I'm not too happy about it taking place in the real world.

Ehh, I could be simply whining for nothing, since the Ace Combat series is one that hasn't let me down too often (the only Ace Combat game that was truly crap was Advance, IMO). As a long time fan, though, it just is a little too weird for comfort.

The press release said it was coming out for both the 360 and PS3

Now this looks incredibly fun. I've never had a flight game in a modern setting before, but this looks like it can draw me in completely. I'm loving the music too!
