That said, while working at Best Buy, I had more then one customer request help finding titles with easy achievements to unlock to boost their gamer score. So there is at least some demand for it.
Wow, what's stopping them from renting the game?
Beats me. I would even suggest as such, but for some reason they wanted to buy something. Sometimes it was because they had gift cards and needed to use them.

I really like the Spore achievments because a lot of times they are unexpected and you get one without realizing you were trying to get one.

Just yesterday I decided to make my creature a flying eldritch abomination from beyond space and time. Thus I went through the whole creature stage without any legs. When I finished I got the slugger achievement. I also got the Foe achievement for driving more than 20 species into extinction and the devourer achievement for eating 50 different species.

In space stage I just got the Thief achievment for stealing 50 crates of spice. I didn't realize it was there I just felt like tormenting a Civ phase society for a bit before I razed their cities to make room for a new colony of mine.

So the M$ rep ragged on Sony for not making rewards so abundant that their lame... I rather have a dragon sitting in my Home personally than be a lame ass number. Sorry, M$ reps are worse than their 13 year old onsumers when it comes to picking fights they can't win then running away IMO. You ask Sony what they think and they just smile like the dam Chesure Cat and say "we are happy for them".
I'd like to see the trophy for "That was some bug"
A+ for that

trophy unlocked: congratulations you bought a PS3....why?
sorry couldnt resist

yea i like achievements since its gives you something more to do in a game. for example you finish the game - ok what now? well theres 100 collectibles left...but i get nought for it. or you can get some points show off how you managed to do it online and be laughed at as an achievement whore. plus it means the game won't be taken overly seriously - ***** slap 5 enemies in a row. someone wont be using guns - fun for others and a challenge for them

I like achievements, it's fun to get and some are an extra reason to hone your skills in a given game... But I agree they're by no means the sole reason to play games...
Examples as to why here [http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=258], here [http://www.duelinganalogs.com/comic/2008/09/22/easily-unlocked/], here [http://www.duelinganalogs.com/comic/2008/04/29/my-greatest-achievement/] and there [http://www.duelinganalogs.com/comic/2007/11/29/and-i-am-an-overachiever/]

Dingo> It's not fixed at 1000, the number can increase with game updates adding new achievements, see Kane & Lynch, Bioshock, etc.

also the limit doesnt have to start at 1000. LotR battle for middle earth 2 has 705 max
