They also spoke of sucking off a dog, but I don't think that happened either. So yeah, I'm not exactly convinced it wasn't just a joke they made up, as I don't think anyone can produce hard evidence it actually really happened.

How many times have you invented something for the sake of a sick joke?

And just as a note, I'm a bit hazy on if they were apologizing for having done it, or for having made a joke out of it; if someone could link me information that answered that, that'd be lovely.
Except they were going on about eerily specific memories where Geoff drove in such a way that Gavin was in sight of some of the women they've followed around.
They gave actual anecdotes, one or two of them.
That's a bit beyond a fake game.

When you're making a video you hope entertains people, rehearsal of extensive and dark jokes can happen. It's hard to prove the actual event happened. Those extensive anecdotes don't prove concretely that it actually happened.

Extremely disappointed by Geoff. Not so much Gavin because he's a fucking asshole and I already have zero respect for him, but as a dad I just can't believe Geoff would say something like that. I tried watching today's lets play and I just felt super uncomfortable like I was just waiting for them to drop another 'joke'. Happy Michael kinda called Gavin out, but jesus, is he the only decent person in RT? Even Gus and Barbara were like 'eh, no big deal'.

I think I'm just gonna unsubscribe, this honestly crossed the line. I don't know how I feel about the apology. How do I know they're sincere? Plus, I'd prefer having them apologize to the women they stalked.

Bottom line, I'm done with RT unless we get a video of Gavin saying he's sorry and explaining why this makes them such huge dickwads.

You rock on Michael, my tiny prince.

Wait wait wait. Did they follow some AI around in a game, or an actual person in the real world? Your post doesn't seem clear enough to me.
In real life. They called it a game and said that they followed attractive women while in their car.

They 'claimed' (According to people with this odd "They made it up" theory) to have actually followed women around in real life. As a type of side-distraction game.
I explained this on the main post, didn't I?

Judging from the description here http://yellowcrayonwillow.tumblr.com/post/52751631627/michael-telling-gavin-off-about-connect-the-hots, they simply turned down the street that had the hottest member of the opposite sex on it. It's not fucking following them, they're in a car, they'll go past them. This has been blown way out of fucking proportion. Absolute joke.

And who is this Michael guy? What a shit-stirring white knight.

Bit odd you're defending Gavin and Geoff when Michael is consistently within ten feet of them in most of their appearances.

Yeah, that's not what they said in the actual video though.

It was a couple of minutes talking about it, they actually described instances of them driving next to the person "at walking pace".

Sorry, I thought I'd clicked on The Escapist, not the RT forums. I'm defending who I think needs defending, I don't have allegiances to these people based on who they are.

Ah, fair enough then. I imagine it'd be bloody hard to slow down that much without the guy from the car behind you smashing up your back, but I don't really know where this was.

From what I can tell, they did something minor, exaggerated for comic effect, got in trouble for it, then apologised. Which seems like the way it really should work out. That is assuming that Geoff was truthful when he said it was exaggerated, mind you.

That's pretty much how I'm trying to see it.
I like the guys but the way it was described originally was genuinely creepy.

It's a way of dealing with the problem. Perhaps not the best? Sure, I'll admit that. But it's a good way to change things. Companies always react when they have a dip in revenue.
When did over stepping a line mean you should stop buying there products to make them feel it? Christ, did anybody get hurt? No. Did anybody file a law suit or restraining order? No.

"Hey everybody, a guy said some sexual innuendos to a woman while playing killer instinct, just another good reason to boycott xbone!".

Me and everybody else has done things that have gone too far, sometimes no bad comes from it except a little embarrassment and other times people die or are traumatized ... this is the former. They took a joke too far, apologized and got plenty of abuse in comments sections.

Now you want a pound of flesh?

Why shouldn't you stop supporting something you really disagree with? Should we be like "Well alright guys, that was really stupid, but I will however continue giving you my money so that you understand that your actions had no real consequences!".

'cos I have perspective ...?

Just another massive over reaction that wont even be remembered in a week. Hey, what was the name of the girl who hung herself?

This is all just "OMG, they talked about stalking and might have done it! Burn the bastards!". What did they actually do? at worst make women feel uncomfortable for a block?.

If they had admitted to something worthy of hate, like I don't know ... happy slapping, the video sensation of recording slapping strangers then I would be on the hate board but this is such a mole hill.

Lol... now I can never see Geoff building his fireplace, this sucks.
I honestly can't see a giggling Brit and a pale white guy with a huge beard being that threatening while driving past crowded college streets mid morning, and the fact that they said this is why they came in 4 hours late everyday lead me to believe it was just a joke, but shit did people overreact.
Also wasn't the only part where they said they drove slowly was when Geoff did it to a shirtless guy to annoy Gav?

Buncha shit over nothing, this promotes stalking like bugs Bunny promotes domestic violence.

Well, here's the thing. It might not be a big deal for you, but it is for me and for apparently a lot of other people as well. I am well within my rights to think that to stop giving them my money is a perfectly valid thing to do.

I find it utterly disgusting that they found it funny to follow women around in a fucking car when that kind of thing is such a serious issue for a lot of us. Not for you apparently.

still like them, a lot. They did something stupid, they weren't thinking. They didn't do anything that would make me stop watching, or stop laughing at all the stupid, silly shit they say. It wasn't cool, formal written apology, moving on.

I never recall them saying that they actually fucking do it since they even say that it's the reason that they're four hours late to work all the time so that makes it sound highly exaggerated.

Secondly, the game sounds less like following someone and more like just turning a corner and seeing where you end up.

Finally, Boycott their shit because they tried to tell a joke they thought was funny and find out it wasn't? I've told plenty of jokes before and sometimes I tell one that's too dark or too specific. I get embarrassed, we laugh it off and I tell a better joke. You guys mean to tell me you don't do that? If you mean to tell me you've never heard someone fuck up on a joke then you must not hear many jokes then. You're being way too sensitive especially after they apologized and admitted it was a dumb thing to talk about.

You all should see tumblr's reaction to this. Shit be crazy.

Rooster Teeth's sense of humor has always been on the border of good taste, and their podcasts and Lets Plays are basically improvisations, so it's no surprise that sometimes some really unfunny and/or offensive stuff like the Connect the Hots story is gonna pop up.

They've apologized for it, and the video's been taken down. Time to move on.

As a twenty year old guy, I've made no small amount of stupid, offensive jokes to my friends. So thankfully nobody gives two shits about what I say.

Unfortunately the RT guys are famous and need to be careful about what they do, especially when they have a reasonably young audience. But when they get recorded for hours per day, something stupid will occasionally slip through.

If you were worried about them encouraging people to perform similar actions, well, they've taken the video down and have told people not to do it. So the pressure sort of evens out.

If you were worried about the women in the example in the video, hopefully they were exaggerating. At least the backlash from the internet/Michael will probably stop them doing it again if they weren't. I hope it does, because stalking is really creepy and bad and don't do it not even once srsly.

Other than that, yeah, it was a dumb, bad joke. Thankfully they didn't do what many might and just yell "FUCK YOU FREEDOM OF SPEECH".
