Holding down all the long notes on Number Of The Beast in GH3. T'was awesome B)
I just taped down the whammy bar, achievement unlocked.
Ack, why didn't I think of that?! Been trying to get that one for ages, I can't quite seem to hit every held note with the whammy bar *runs upstairs to try it*

OT: I'm quite proud of the 'Safety First' achievement from L4D, took me ages to get that. Oh and I got 'Stomach Upset' as well (only person on my friends list to have it). It was a pure fluke, of course, but I was buzzing nonetheless!
"Nothing Special" was by sheer fluke. I ran through, got incapped by a witch and STILL got that one. Was just trying to finish Blood Harvest and didn't even notice that none of the team had been hit by specials.

Ahhh the achievement notification. A fine moment.

I love playing TF2 because you just get them without even trying. I got the one where you have to kill someone within one second of them killing you, no idea it was even an achievement. I bet there are people out there who tried really really hard to get it!

Though I doubt anything wil ever top the sheer joy and relief of this:

BLIP BLOP: Achievement unlocked: Mile High Club
Dear god yes! Took me all afternoon to unlock that. I was proud of myself after that.

I also pitch in the 'One Free Bullet' Achievement. Another one I was proud to unlock.
I didn't know what game Mile High Club achievement was off so I copy and pasted "Achievement unlocked: Mile High Club" and it came up with what I quoted. sorry, i just think it's purdy cool.

Lead aspirin was hard.
Did you say "Lead Aspirin"? From RE5? All you have to do is equip the Hydra and play that level with all the natives. Just stand on one of the platforms and aim up. The natives jump across from the other side and you just fire away. Piece of cake. "The Works" is hardest on solo just because Sheva is always held up by Down syndrome or something. That game really needed a ***** slap button.
yeah, I didn't of going with the hydra on that level, I just went on the first level and ran to were you pick the machine gun up, stood with my back to the exit gate and aimed at the wall were they jump over (after destroying the market stall of course) with a handgun and eventually got it.

With a handgun? Nice! New hard one for me was "Hoard the Horde" with two people. Ran into this guy who'd finished the first thirty waves BY HIMSELF and just couldn't get into the next round. Ended up finishing it on Pavillion and stumbling upon a physics glitch where the big enemies couldn't get past the massive pile of corpses in that narrow hallway in the middle of the map. Just unloaded into the swarm and finished wave 50 in less than two minutes.

Probably Little Rocket Man from Half-Life 2. I don't even care about achievements, but that was just too fun not to not bother with it.

No Achievment, but Foamy ranting about achievments!

Foamy is my god damn hero. I completely agree with him. Achievements are the second worst idea ever introduced to gaming. Quicktimes events take the #1 slot.

Hey forum!
Now I don't know about you guys but I just love to hear that cute little noise telling me I've unlocked an achievement, I'm a pretty new escapist member so I don't know anyone very well but tell me...

What the coolest achievement you've ever unlocked?

Remember to hide your spoilers, thanks =D
Hi there! Welcome to the Escapist.

Please use the Search Function before starting any thread, and it will help you in knowing whether or not your thread was done a year ago or yesterday. It can be found in the top right of the Forums, just next to the red links to your messages and profile.

Also, please use proper grammar and read the Forum Guidelines found at the top of each Forum Section. (Note : I'm not saying that you've done anything wrong, it's just good advice)

I am Octorok, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? "No" Says the man at Ebay, "it belongs to the poor". "No" says the Man at religioustolerance.org, "it belongs to God". "No" says the man at Youtube, "it belongs to everyone". I rejected those answers. Instead; I chose something different. I chose the Impossible. I chose. The Escapist. With a forum where the opinionated would not fear the censor (within reason), where the Moderators would not be bound by petty morality, where the Gone Gonzo would not be constrained by the troll. And with the ache of your fingers (and perhaps a new keyboard), The Escapist can be yours as well...

On Topic - I really, really love getting achievements. Mmm... achievables...

Sadly, I've only just got an Xbox360. So it'll have to be 'back in the saddle' which you get for simply playing the training level of Modern Warfare 2...

...it feels cheap getting achievements just for completing a level...

Anyone got this one?
How did it feel? :/
I am so sorry you had to go through the agony of searching for all the flags in Assassin's Creed. I will send flowers to your funeral, because you shortened your lifespan to about 3 years with that.

Can't say I have a fave. On the topic of achievements, Enchanted Arms was pretty lame for them; all your achievements come from what you have to do anyway to get through the story. It wasn't like Blue Dragon where they make you work for them.
