These trade agreements exist for good reasons and will not impede on anyone's wellbeing or freedoms. They will only go so far as to punish those who are breaking international law. I would have thought that's a good thing. I guess people will just assume "PIPA/SOPA" being followed by this, that it's some kind of trend. It's not. ...it's really not.

ACTA basically just breaks down borders and allows international copyright and such to be truly universal. It is not censorship of the internet. It is not the end of free or fair trade. It is not SOPA. You are all blowing this waaay out of proportion. The worst part of ACTA is that it was formed behind the public's backs, but since it does so little to actually affect the public, I dunno why that's an issue. I'm sure traffic laws were formed behind our backs too. We don't complain about that, though.

It's a question of intelligence. If you're not smart enough to know how to spell basic words, or use a spellchecker, it casts a light of general ignorance on what you say. Not to say that stupid people aren't allowed to have opinions but, well... stupid is as stupid types.

Different guy here, but generally speaking. I think he's talking about people who's first language is English.

Obviously if English is a second language to someone it's a completely different scenario but people do judge others based on the quality of their words. Unfortunately over the net, that means people get called out on making silly errors that wouldn't have otherwise been noticed if simply spoken.

Like saying "your" instead of "you're", or mixing up plurals and possessives.

Personally, I don't judge someone on their spelling unless it's absolutely appalling. You know, the type of people who use text speak for everything. But ridiculously convoluted text speak, or putting a 'q' instead of a 'g' because that curls just gay or whatever.

That's about the only time it becomes an issue for me.

I know it's been said before, but the one thing that worries me about ACTA is that it could stop or restrict the sale of generic drugs and medications. Keep in mind that not everyone can afford brand-name drugs, so they rely on the generic products to get their medication. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the issue, but from what I've read about, it seems like ACTA could potentially deprive people of the medication they need.
