I hope you all realize that regardless of this treaty being singed or not, the creation of an international treaty merely means that said signing governments will do their best to create national-local laws that are drafted to comply with the stated agreements.

There are already books full of international drug and copyright treaties that are little enforced if at all.

That said, what can the Anonymous masses really accomplish against companies and governments with large interests backing their ideals?

Against Scientology the goal was to annoy and push the bastards into a corner for their need to sue everyone and everything for publicly stating that their beliefs in a science fiction writer as a prophet are garbage.

Against Australia it was to let them know that we will, if nothing else, have our porn.

Here the goal is to let the world know that anonymity and free speech should go hand-in-hand and be protected.

What if anything will actually happen is anyone's guess, since anon is ultimately only as effective as its loudest member.

Any eventual action will likely fall between a synchronized international protest (Guy Fawkes mask optional) and large scale attacks on major ISPs, with billions lost from just halting internet traffic for as little as an hour in some areas.

As always none of this will matter with the coming of the zombies; but you already knew that.

Speaking as someone who HAS gotten violent over political issues ( and others );
I can say that if the "battle" isn't won first on a PR front, the forces one may face arrayed against them may be insurmountable.
To use an example if i may, the "South African" police and paramiltary organizations never LOST an engagement - but they lost the "war" because of world opinion.
This is why we riot when we know it is tactically a lost cause ( the 'win' is stealing a tactical victory and then leaving before it escalates to seeing if ex-marine snipers ara better than the police snipers ).
I know too many people more professional than I ever was, who work "Low Intensity Combat".
Trust me, trust them - you don't want to be on the side of an insurrection in the modern era.

The only way to win an "unwinnable" battle? Maneuver around it.
Understand that if you engage in violence without being seen as "right" and "in self-defense", you only harm your cause. So, back to my beginning - if you'd fight for your freedom you have to "win" the PR battle for "right" first.

I literally just used that with the limited info you already provided, connect a couple of dots, eliminate the improbable, bing, bang and boom. Got my answer. The specifics just came from Wiki and basic division.

Kinda shattered the illusion, I enjoyed being thought of as somewhat of a "super" slueth for that short moment. Ah well.

This is why I'm a libertarian, we don't need a bigger, more intrusive government, and if people are going to be telling me that less government means more power for the corporations, think about this: if the government isn't as powerful, then there's less that a special interest can use it for and get from it. Think about it. I concur.I am extremely concerned that the current Administration would love to get it's hand on this kind of power. At least with corporations we can vote with our wallets; which seems to be much better motivating factor than voting with a ballot. I for one am seriously considering dumping Comcast.
