If it was any other game then mw2 it would totaly bite them in the ass
Exactly the point, Activision is trying to pull this because they know they're going to sell copies of MW2 by the truck load regardless of the price. It only seems like a bad thing because we're the ones getting shafted. But, to those doing the shafting, well lets just say they're already signing off on their new Ferraris.

"Of course, we as consumers have a right to buy used games if we so desire, and I fully recommend that everybody does that, especially when it comes to Activision games."

We, as consumers, also have the right to not buy Activision's games and I seriously recommend we try that.

Really, the V for Vendetta references might seem a little silly, but the only way we may be able to change this is to start a Revolution against these guys. Yay Resistance. I call the Crowbar.

But, if everyone is to buy used, who is going to buy the games new so they can become used?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
gah, its still amazing how ea has almost become not a bad publisher so fast.... maybe its that they just needed someone to go the cartoonish super villan route..... yes I realize I just said that about someone raising game prices but I care not

Why are you asking me? I'm not the one suggesting everyone buy used. I'm suggesting everyone boycott Activision.

They also tried to make Brutal Legend into a guitar hero game *cringe* . Then failing to do that they are trying to get the game cancelled .. EA is on the road to redemption and hopefully they can save us .

Pffff, you guys can say "Boycott Activision!!!" all you want, it's not gonna make a difference. I'm gonna buy it, and I'm sure most people will too.

Anyway, isn't this price thing only going to be in the UK? Well, I live in America, so I don't care. Most British people on X-Box Live are five and annoying.

See this is the part where EA comes in like the repentant hero and saves the day from the nefarious activision and his handlebar mustache and tophat.

Never pay for EA
Never pay for BlizzAck (Activison Blizzard)
Buy used games.

Let another video game collapse happen so smaller developers who care more about the game than stocks can do original ideas again.

I'm sure that if other publishers notice that Activision raised the price of their games and are still selling, most of them will do the same. Yes, that means EA too.

It's hard business. We, as gamers and buyers can rage all we want and talk about boycotting as much as we like, in the end, it won't make a difference. If they manage to pull it off, well, good game to them. They'll do exactly that what many other branches have done before them.

No, you can't compare this to the movie industry where they get the most money from theatre ticket sale and every dvd that they sell afterwards is a nice bonus. This isn't a flatscreen tv production industry where components can be produced for less money due to evolving technology and can therefor be sold for less money.
The gaming industry has become about money. Lots of money. It's no longer a couple of geeks programming a game in their basement during their free time. These are companies with employees, licenses, equipment and whatever not, that all need to be funded. Those won't come cheaper. They have to cough up money for it, and we'll make sure they get it back, with a little extra on top. That's just business. Yup, it sucks for us, but c'est la vie.

Sure, let's hope, for our sake and that of our wallet that they won't, obviously. But what if? You can buy less games and pretend you're boycotting. But are you going to quit gaming altogether? Are you now going to pirate everything to prove a point? I'm pretty sure that people who will pirate, are the ones that are already pirating. Is it going to change the gaming inductry? Will gaming as an average man's hobby die? I think not.
