I read up on IGN: http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/108/1080084p1.html that is was really activison who had placed the price, not infinity ward, so people who got angry at them for the price, can turn the hatred towards activison devils. X(

Can't say I'm all that surprised, actually I was more surprised that people thought that IW priced this. After the whole thing with Vince and Jason I assumed that Activision would be doing all the decision making.

After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that this information will not change my dislike of Modern Warfare 2.

However, it is increasing my dislike for Activision.

Still not getting it.

If its forced into map rotation, I'll just go play Halo or something.

At first I thought 5 maps is quite good for 800, but for 1200 it's just abit to high for me. Though i'm pretty damned sure people were going to complain about this no matter the price tag, so long as they are being asked to pay for something.

I suppose I shall be the first to rehash the old argument of no one is forcing you to pay for it. If it's handled like Treyarchs map packs though, I completely understand the problem as when I borrowed World At War I was told on a very regular basis I wasn't allowed to play in the match as it turned to a DLC map.

Of course.

I mean, as Publisher, they basically control all of the prices for their games and DLC. Everything that has to do with money, in game development is entirely in the domain of the publisher

It would be like blaming movie directors for the price of a movie. It's just not part of their job description.

I'm getting the feeling that a lot of the controversies over MW2 and Infinity Ward lately (no dedicated servers, premium priced map packs, the co-founder's "insubordination") have actually been Activision's doing.

Yeah, Activision is the publisher so they price the thing. IW only deals with creative aspects i.e. what the content is. I wish there was some hope if the price getting lowered later on or even for a special one day discount, but we know Activision will keep that price at 1200 forever.
