no. no. nonononono no no no NO no.

no.

Anyone. Bloody anyone get that franchise. I don't care if it's Sony, Microsoft, Hell even EA or Ubisoft. But NOT Activision. I thought it was safe, gathering dust somewhere on Activision's shelf, waiting to be bought out by a company that would treat it better. But now they're thinking of using the license again? Will the horror never end?

>.> And you're all being serious about this?

Okay, I can play along too:

"Oh noes... Activision isn't allowing Sony to wring the blood out of a franchise we are nostalgic for. Grr... bad Activision, no chewies!"

Or:

"I am totes agree, yo, Activision didn't completely copy/paste Crash to be just like all of those games on the PS 1. We should force an injunction on them to just let Sony start that up again and everyone will win. Except Activision, obviously. And I guess innovation in gaming. But whoo... Bandicoot time!"

Another Crash game would never be as good as we remember them anyway. Even if Sony got it back in Naughty Dog's hands.
A good chunk of that is nostalgia. The actual game will never be as good as we remember it.

I think they were going to sell, but then people got excited and Activision mistook this as something they can cash in on and said no to the sale. That's my thinking anyways.

Personally, I prefer Spyro anyways.

Oh. Well fuck it then. Crash Bandicoot 1996-2004. May he rest in peace.

Well, nothing gained, nothing lost. Status Quo maintained.
"Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life."
What a joke. This coming from the same company that refuses to even attempt to innovate AT ALL COSTS.
Can't wait for the Skylanders version of Crash Bandicoot; only 50 bucks for the game and 25 bucks per character!

I don't mean this to sound as dismissive as it likely will, but I was truly unaware that Crash had such a following.

There seems to be such affection for him in this thread. It honestly took me by surprise. Cool though. I remember enjoying those games back in the PS1 days.

So... Pitt, a character who hadn't got a game in ~20 years outside of Japan got in Brawl - which inadvertly revived his series...

But Crash - whom everyone wanted in All-Stars - is not in All-Stars, his hypothetical appearance in the latter pprobably reviving the franchise with a bang.

Activision are a bunch of morons.

Looking at the direction the AAA gaming industry in the US has been going these last few years I'm not surprised in the slightest. Activision wont give up on the license since it's worth something, but it's only worth something if they do something worthwhile with it, which they probably wont bother with.

Don't worry, they'll make a great set of map packs out of the next Crash title!
^ A joke.

This is the single most disgusting and offensive sentence I've ever had the displeasure of reading.
When I read Activision's 'quote', all I keep seeing is their team, standing in a circle wearing Aku Aku or Uka Uka Masks, screaming the lyrics to 'Who Do You Voodoo *****?' at a confused and frightened Crash Bandicoot wondering why the scary people keep forgetting about him.

Who's responsible for all the new CB games, mind over mutant or whatever they were called. Those games were awful, i guess they tried innovating but the games were just boring. The only fun parts in those games were the parts where you just played as crash.

I downloaded Crash 1 from PSN a few months ago, and I'm now halfway on the last island. I have to say the game holds up really, really well. It does not have the same imagination or creativity as the Mario titles gameplay wise, but it's a solid platformer all around. Lush graphics, awesome soundtrack and the controls are tight. The mixture between 2D and 3D levels make the game stay fresh throughout.

Plus, Crash is just a cool character. Sony messed up big time when they sold off the rights. He's one of the only "true" Playstation mascots there is, and given the response I've seen from several forums, people would be really happy to see him return for the Ps4. I wonder if Sony DID give them an offer, would Activision be willing to sell?

Sony never owned the full rights to Crash Bandicoot, Universal Interactive Studios did. When Sony picked up both Insomniac and Naughty Dog, both companies had to leave those franchises with Universal. Really unless the developer themselves create and publish the IP, they get full control over it. It's the same reason as to why Bungie can't make any more Halo games unless they work for Microsoft, MS owns the Halo IP and all rights to it, not Bungie, and when Naughty Dog left to work for Sony they didn't own the Crash Bandicoot IP. Now Sony should have bought the IP from UI, but ND has come out before and said that they didn't have anymore ideas for Crash and wanted to move on from it. And then we got Jak and Daxter. :D

Tell me about it. I'd rather never have a Crash game again than Activision taking another crack at it. The only solace we have right now is that the studio they used (Radical, creator of Prototype 2) is dead.

I don't know, the Tag Team Racing, Twinsanity, and whatever came out after those that I didn't play, felt like a freaking fever dream. Like really, I didn't feel great mentally during those playthroughs.

Besides, we already have all the crystals and gems. Unless it's a whole new plot line, we're done here. ND wrapped it up pretty nicely. Uka Uka could still come back as he might survive living through the past to the present again, since he was hibernating before, but Cortex would be long dead, and N. Tropy...well he might be able to do something, but once again, we already have the crystals.

And the thought of Clancy Brown's character dead reminds me of how the new studios had N. Gin start FUCKING ROTTING on his human half. If you'll excuse me, I have to go cry in the shower with my arms wrapped around my knees as I rock back and forth and repress that fact again.

So either Activision are a munch of idiots or greedy pricks. We want our Crash dammit! And I don't care if he can talk now!
