I always really enjoyed skateboarding games. I think they helped pioneer a lot of "sandbox concepts" like open world challenges and the like. Tony Hawk 1-3 were really really good games, can't say I really played any of the more recent games because I went to PC gaming, and they don't port well.
It's all about precision *precision* control. Putting a big clonky "skateboard controller" on the floor is just silly. What a travesty. It's not really a wonder it failed.
Tony Hawk H-O-R-S-E mode is some of the best competitive (party) gaming out there, perhaps barring only Mariokart! My friends and I really loved these games, it's a shame to see Kotik the D-bag grind another franchise into the dust.
