This is something I see a lot, and it kinda follows on a topic that's already going on here. In fiction, most plots, if you boil them down, are kinda dumb. However really, it's fiction, anything could work.

Let's list a few things that could work, of how they could be fixed to make us THINK they could work. Seems like an interesting idea.

To one of my own.
Aliens eliminating humans with few to no alien casualties and us just looking like bugs. Well, if all they want to do is kill us, they could just move an asteroid and move on. If they wanted something from us that would be stupid, but if they just wanted to kill us, that could work. Actually conquering the planet and maintaining it in relatively the same condition or better than it is right now... that would be pretty hard.

To one other folks have pointed out:
Aliens invading a planet that is 75% a toxic chemical.
Heck ALL of Mars' environment is currently toxic to us, but it's all we can find to go to right now, so actually, yes, it's feasible that someone could see it as an acceptable risk they would later have to address. In the mean time, just wear space suites. The Signs aliens walked around half naked and yea... that was dumb.

Depends on what they view as "better", though.

However, why come to Earth? Just about everything you could want you can get easier elsewhere, except for living things and things produced by living things. Not sure why aliens would want those.

Also...why do aliens invade "The World"? If they invaded North Korea and left everyone else alone, things would go better for them...not sure how they'd know this though.
