Flash is the one thing I wish my iPhone did.
Want to use flash? There's an app for... oh.
So.... what is the ipad supposed to be? A big iphone without the phone? A netbook without the capability to run over 3/4 of internet content? A home PC without any functionality?

It doesn't "make sense". I makes sense if you want to bash your clients over the head with the idea that you want to suck them dry financially. Hey, why not make every page in the internet also only available if you buy them? Make us pay a cent every time we play a song too. That would make a fortune, it "makes sense".
I don't understand why they'd expose themselves to the ridicule though. The first mockups of a large ipod touch have been around the internet for years. Why make a huge deal out of something everyone already thought of but dismissed as a bad idea? Jesus, Steeve, I can't even open my maps client and see my e-mails at the same time? Its clearly not because the processor can't handle it, this is a 1 gig processor. The Nexus One can do multitasking with a processor of the same size and the N1 is a goddamn phone.
Adobe isn't just howling at the moon with this one. They're views is a particularly heavy hailstone in the storm of huh, wuh and, zuh which followed the release of the iPad [please forgive the horrible metaphor as I am desperately sleep-deprived]

someone's a lil pissy for not being invited to apple's super awesome party. granted i'm lambasting the fact that they'll release a statement to ***** about it. even though i agree that any of apple's products should have flash support. i mean regular macs allow it, why not for my ipod touch (screw the iPad, it has no right to exist)
Um... Is anyone surprised? This is the established business model that Apple used to dominate the mp3 market with the iPod:
1) make a shiny new device that's at least as much form as function
2) include failsafes designed to steer its user towards Apple content
3) PROFIT
It's blatant protectionism, and shame on you for believing that Apple makes this shit out of the kindness of their hearts.
They want your money. They will do some pretty dicky things to ensure they get it. Because they're a corporate interest. Moving on.

It's one thing to monopolize your own hardware and leave competitors free to produce a rival hardware platform. That's basically what game consoles are. It's totally different when you've got a virtual monopoly over all PC hardware regardless of manufacturer, and lever that position to knock off competitors in different software markets.solidstatemind said:
