Ads on the Escapist

Its great that companies wanna advertise on the escapist. More ads = more cool stuff from the escapist. but are the background ads starting be a little distracting and annoying? Especially this new Supreme commander 2 ad.

I don't like them so much when they mess with the video windows. I try to close out of them, it closes the video too. What?

Nope, adverts don't bother me in the slightest, nor do they have any impact on my viewing experience...

I don't have the attention span of small child, I can concentrate on what I'm watching, the Ads don't bother me. More ads = more money, more money = more cool stuff. It's a more than fair trade off.

The only time I am ever bothered by the ads is when I go through several videos in one sitting and the Escapist happens to be running those mandatory pre-video ads.

Ads that consume that entire background can be annoying, but I don't find this Supreme Commander 2 ad to be annoying. It just looks like a bunch of explosions mixed with some grey metal. Not exactly distracting to me, so I don't have a problem with it.

There are only two ads that have really annoyed me on the Escapist. Those stupid ads for DDO online that feature brocoli, and the old ads for game dogs. The latter was particularly annoying because no matter what you did, those dogs would just kept leering at you. It was very distracting.

It is getting a bit overdone how they fill every screen with ads like this. Im mostly worried that it will end up like Idoicracy when you have a 50 square inch screen but 47 square inches are constant advertisements.

I don't mind the background ads except for the Game Dogs ones awhile back. The ones before the videos are annoying but it will hopefully help make the Escapist even better. The Escapist staff don't strike me as the bunch to go on a coke/hooker binge with all the new ad money.

haha true that...well maybe only Yahtzee does that.

I love new content they come out with, its only background ads that piss me off. :/

They haven't bothered me that much. The Escapist needs them to make money and to keep pumping out great things on this site. If you don't like them, fine, but just accept them as a nescarry evil.

Some of them drastically slow down not just the sites performance but the performance of my entire PC. (Looking at you AvP ads.)

I dont mind, I know its the main source of revenue and its what keeps this site running.
