So... the preorder for the next CoD popped up on steam. It's advertising innovative features such as a world where pmc's have become the dominant armed forces and powerful exoskeletons. So we're back to ripping off Halo and every game ever that was too chicken to imply that a real country could be evil. All the excitement I felt when I saw that Kevin Spacey is very rapidly fading away. still... hoverbikes...

Well I thought they ripped off Graw once I heard it but had to look it up to see it was Advanced warfighter not warfare, so I guess only half. But would be funny if it was Army of two in the future.

"GAH! Call of Duty sucks! It does nothing but the same thing over and over and over again!!! They suck!"
"GAH! Call of Duty has made changes and is ripping off everyone else's ideas! They suck!"

Just can't please everyone I suppose.

Anyway, to answer the question, I went from writing the series off after Ghost to being mildly possibly maybe slightly cautiously optimistic about AW. I've bought all of the CoD games on launch starting with CoD2 (and heavily got into multi-player with CoD4) but Ghost and Infinity Ward just feel like shells of what used to be a stellar series.

With this being Sledehammer's first full game, I am curious. The story is taking the series into an interesting direction as it implies that PMCs are going to be a focus of attention. Hiring a big gun like Spacey is promising but a lot of recent CoD games showed some really cool tech and toys in the trailers only for them to be one-off sections.

The game has my attention but until we see more, it'll be a sliver of attention only.
