Advent Rising

After buying the Greatest Video Game Music album, I discovered that I knew of, if not having played, most of the 21 games on the list. The only one I hadn't even heard of at all was Advent Rising, whose opening theme (Muse) was the opener for the album. I decided to do a little bit of research and wound up discovering that it was a sci-fi action game available on Steam or GoG, and the reviews were rather mixed. Since my dad was helping with the research, he also came across a patch called Advent Revising, which apparently fixes a lot of stuff like cutscene subtitle timing or putting in cutscenes from the Xbox version.

The discussion value is as follows: should I buy this game? $6 on GoG and an interesting concept, but mixed reviews and it's clearly a port... What do?

Its part of a trilogy that was scrapped and ends on a disappointing cliffhanger, as well as having pretty much a downer of a storyline throughout.

From what I remember of the xbox version the targeting was pretty terrible where you would lock onto bits of scenery whenever your were trying to aim for bad guys.

Bottom line, if there was any hope of the game getting sequels I would say give it a shot for 6 bucks, but now I'd just tell you to pass on it.

Never played the game, but I do remember once seeing an absolutely epic trailer for it...
