Advertisements that actually work

The vast majority of commercials are just noise. We're bombarded with so many attempts to grab our attention, that they just cancel each other out.

But occasionally, an advert comes along that immediately grabs our attention and that we actually look forward to the next time we see it. Hell, it might even convince you to buy the product,

This is my advert of choice. Now, I've known this existed for a while, but they've just recently started showing it in the U.K.

And now I'm the man your man could smell like.

So fellow escapists, which adverts do you think are actually worth the vast amounts of money that companies have spent on them.

Apart from the old spice ones, the Cadbury's Dairy Milk adverts are always good for a laugh, even enough to convince me that a marketing department of a huge corporation might actually have a soul.

This is my particular favorite...

I agree, the Gorilla one is my favourite too.

Cadbury knows that everyone knows who they are, so they don't need to advertise the product and can get away with making nonsense instead.

I'm not sure actually. The only one that springs to mind is a fake advert from a comedy show, I so want one:

I'm sure there is a real one but I just can't think of what it might be. Essentially any advert that goes viral is money well spent by the company as brand recognition goes a long way even if the advert doesn't persuade you to run out and buy the product in question.

Well since I was Ninja'd by OP, I don't know what ads to post. But I will say that in this world the only good way to advertise these days is to be funny, because people like funny.

The actual purpose of an advert is to try get you to buy a product, I have never seen an advert and immediately thought, ooh, I want that. So no, I do not know a single advert that has worked on me

One of the best commercials I've ever seen doesn't even air in America.

Don't ever say no to Panda

Also while it doesn't affect how much I want to go to a Seattle Mariners game (due to the fact that I love watching the Mariners and always want to go to a game), this commercial is fucking hilarious.

"Compare ze market dot com... compare ze meeeeeeeerkat dot com... simples. Squeek."

Cattchpa: availial g(small sigma)(small mu)(capital epsilon)... wha?

EDIT: The injury lawyers 4 u ads are pretty funny, actually.
"Have you been injured in the past? WELL DON'T TAKE DAT SHIT, ***** THIS IS TOTALLY SRS BUSINESS"*

*slightly paraphrased.

That Panda is terrifying.

I need to buy some of this cheese before he kills me.

Because I love some good, hard lampshade hanging.
That said, I lack the requisite anatomy for their product.

Had my gf showed me this. I think it was pretty neat, Ikea generally has interesting commercials although I haven't watched any TV in at least half a decade now.

It's making fun of the old Cilit Bang adverts that were really annoying because the man doing them only had one volume setting, known as TOO FUCKING LOUD!

I don't know if it makes people buy the beer. But the commercials are great.
I think all of us want to be this guy, deep down.

Some great lines in this...
"He's a lover, not a fighter. But he's also a fighter so don't get any funny ideas."
"His beard had experienced more than a lesser man's whole body."
"Even his enemies list him as their emergency contact number"

The effects of advertising are so subjective. I for one LOVE the Dos Equis Most Interesting Man in the World campaign, however I've never had nor will ever have a Dos Equis.

Lol I know what it is making fun of, just ironic that I never want to go near Cilit Bang but I instantly want Kitchen Gun.

Those adverts were/are so irritating. I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve with them really.
