Question; What gaming advertising is effective? Personally I haven't noticed much advertising lately. *edited thread*

I agree, to a degree. (no pun intended)
It's not as bad as some people claim, but it ain't my cup of tea.
I can see the appeal though.

But you shouldn't go there, people here are getting tired of the constant Halo threads, because it often leads to flamewars.

First off, what the hell did the first sentance have to do with the title?

Second, most Halo haters have played it but think that it's some average generic shooter even though it forged modern fps making them balenced and playable online. Or they want to think their opinion is something special. Or my final theory is they are dislusional and think there is some holy grail shooter and compare halo to that (I'm sure most people will say cod4 but I think it's a bit meh really)

Thirdly probably tv because television is meant for mass marketing and consoles are mass market products
Either that or internet adverts and word of mouth, it's amazing how much people defend their console

The ODST live action Trailer is SEVERAL SHADES OF AWESOME

Most advertsing i'd say is very effective for the gaming industry, Viral campaigns are amazing

I'd say that people dont think they are that effective because you never really see them on TV, but to be fair, most gamers would be at PCs and Consoles serfing the web

To think i would of never of found out about The Dow Game Series if i hadnt of been watching stargate Sg-1 on Sky.

Game advertising would probably more effective and less hated if it added to an immersion. It's logical in "contemporary" shooters, racing games, and ESPECIALLY in city-building simulators.

Cinematics bore me since I'm always skeptical but actual gameplay footage is good. I rarely use demos though (but I rarely buy a new release either).
