This can be for anyone willing to come and ask for advice, give advice, and whatever else(besides trolling).

I would like to ask for advice on how good exactly is the Old Dominion University?

I ask because using this college searching thing provided by school officials, it's one of the colleges that matches my every preference(plus the name just sounds fucking awesome!).

And does public university mean that I don't have to pay any tuition? If so, good!

We recently had a guy and talk about our uni choices at our college. There are loads of different types, you get red brick uni's, which are propper up straight colleges which are traditional, they usually have some form of accomadation close. They have a sort of "Get on it yourself" attitude.

Then you have the newer uni's, they allow a more free choice of courses, where you can mix and match what you want, to some degree. They can have accomadation close, but usually are taken up by people living close. They can be more helpful on a personnal than the red brick uni's as the numbers are lower.

Campus uni's are just what they sound like. A university with an almost "village like" space artound it. Theres a mass of student shops, houses, flats, clubs and pubs. They allow a mix of nearly any type of degree. They can be very personnal but lecturers time can be taken up by what some would call "useless" degrees.

Either way, a degree is the way to go because even though you may not get into the proffession of the degree, you learn valuable resources which any employer would like to see on a CV.

Hope i helped :)

Don't make a rushed decision about where to go to university! I did and regret it more than I can say, cost me far more than money.
Think about it long and hard. Are the courses good? Is the library useful? Do the people there look like the kind of friends you are likely to make? How far is it from home? Is this relevant to you? Is it in a city? Is that city the kind of place you'd like to live? Could you get a job there?

No pressure

Good luck!

Courses good? - Well, I want to take them... So I guess.

Library useful? - It's a library. If it's not good, I'll just use my computer or go to a different library!

People look like friends you'll likely make? - I haven't been there yet. I'm only 15.

Far from home? - No. It's 208 miles to the north-east(I used a distance calculator).

Relevant to you? - Your list, the college, the courses, what?

In a city? - Being in an urban area was one of my preferences. I fucking hate the country(as in rural areas).

Place you'd like to live? - Yeah, it seems pretty nice. The occasional hurricane and possible constant smell of fish(it's near the ocean) might pose a few problems, but oh well.

Get a job there? - Again, haven't been there yet.

Not really, 'cause you live in the UK and I live in the U.S., however I do appreciate you trying to help, though.

Courses good? - Well, I want to take them... So I guess. - How do they rank nationally? and what are the focuses, say you major in history, what period do they specialise in for example?

Library useful? It's a library. If it's not good, I'll just use my computer or go to a different library!-

People look like friends you'll likely make? I haven't been there yet. I'm only 15.- Wow, you think ahead! I'm very impressed. Well check it out. Universities have vibes about them you pick up on. I went to a very 'arty' university, not my cup off tea, mind you I would have preferred that to one where it was all work no play.

Far from home? No. It's 208 miles to the north-east(I used a distance calculator).-

Relevant to you? Your list, the college, the courses, what?- Oh I meant, do you want to far away? Do you like being able to travel home?

In a city? Being in an urban area was one of my preferences. I fucking hate the country(as in rural areas).- I thought that! Gods I hate the city now.

Place you'd like to live? Yeah, it seems pretty nice. The occasional hurricane and possible constant smell of fish(it's near the ocean) might pose a few problems, but oh well.- Meh sounds fine to me.

Sounds like you've though about it a fair amount. Especially at 15.

Thanks. I do not know about the school's ranking in the country, or what classes they have that are well known for quality.

And apparently I can go to like private colleges without worrying about tuition thanks to my dad's GI Bill.

It's fine, my fault actually for not specifying what country I'm from.

And thanks anyway for the advice.
