Before, I've only really played The Sims and Total War on my Pc's. But I would like to expand from just my 360 on to some PC gaming.

My new laptop is more than adequate to play pretty much everything, Crysis may be pushing it mind....

So, what games would you suggest?

EDIT: I like shooters and games like Company of Hero's. But not really into WOW. Due to monthly charges. Spore is also pretty excellent.

The orange box. Best $30 you'll ever spend. There are also a ton of free mods for it. Get steam, they have really good deals sometimes.

You haven't really given much of an indication of what type of games you like, save those 3 you mentioned...
Empire: Total War?
Counter Strike (a bit old, but meh, will always be a favourite of mine!)
WoW? (if you are up for trying an mmo)
Spore?
STALKER?
Dawn of War 2?
Company of Heroes?

Any help? lol

I agree, in order to give some solid recommendations, we'd need to know a bit more about your gaming tastes, but based on what you've said, here are some of my recommendations for PC gaming:

Playing Total War games suggests that you like big RTSs, so I'd heartily recommend Civilization 4, with the "Beyond the Sword" expansion. Also, Command & Conquer 3. (Red Alert 3 is pretty good, too, but C&C 3 is the one that gets way more replay on my rig.) And Sins of a Solar Empire.

For PC Shooters, you can't go wrong with the Orange Box, as has been mentioned already. And if you like online gaming, the Battlefield series is pretty good (at least it was when I was last into it, which admittedly has been a while).

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl. But you have to download the 'Oblivion lost' Mod.

Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a must. Certainly one of the most balanced online games I have ever played. I also recommend Garrys Mod, that will give you alot of fun, and push your mind towards new ways of thinking while you're at it. The multitude of Zombie/Survival Horror Games on Steam are also pretty enjoyable, and Free!

Good for a week, then it gets boring.

Buy The Orange Box first, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

First, you should download Xfire, Steam and Skype. These three tools are essential for any PC Gamer.

Then, stop using a laptop, and buy a PC.

Get a PS3... :)

but seriously, if you are playing games on a PC go for the biggest ones, such as games with the best graphics. I suppose i'm not the best advisor for PC gaming, i used to play Starcraft, Myst, Diablo(s), The Sims, Redmoon, Doom, wolfenstien and Quake, but since I got more focused into consoles all i play on my PC now is Digital Paintball (quake mod), Nester, and occasionally online java/flash games.
Maybe once i have a chance to buy a Ultra-nice gaming computer i'll get back into PC games, [or Starcraft 2 finally comes out!] i think its not worth it unless you have great computer to run the games on, especially trying to play online games it can be frustrating with lag and load times.

* oh sorry forgot to mention since you like shooters and don't want to pay online fees, check out http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/news.php, its not the best graphics but its free, fast, and addictive.
