I'm not 100% new to cosplay, but I'm still inexperienced.
However I want to try something a bit bolder than what I did in the past, and that's a Geralt of Rivia cosplay.

I just need some tips on how to start. Preferably, I want to be able to buy the largest things outright rather than crafting them myself. To some that's sacrilege but it just fits better with my time-budget.

So basically:

- Where is a good place to buy replica medieval swords similar to what Geralt weilds, preferably made of foam?
- Would chainmail pot scrubbed work well for arm pads, gloves, etc combined with leather?
- Where's a cheap place to get leather??
- Recommendations on wigs?
- Is it possible to temporarily dye facial hair the whitish color?
- Any other tips you could provide!

Any help is appreciated!

For cheap leather you could try second-hand/charity shops, they usually have a good few leather jackets if you aren't adverse to cutting one or two up. You can get theatrical temporary water based white hair dye in lieu of a wig, though I'm not sure if it works on beards too.

My Husband and I did Geralt and Ciri for PAX East 2016. We made almost all of his Geralt Cosplay so I dont have much to offer in the way of buying items. I would probably check Etsy.

- For Wig: We used Arda Wig Malinda Classic https://arda-wigs.com/shop/malinda-classic/
- For Facial Hair: We found the white hair spray, sprayed on a fine tooth comb, then quickly combed through the facial hair colored the hair but didnt get the white on my husband's face as much.
- Buying Items: We bought the following items off Amazon.
~Belt: http://www.amazon.com/Levis-Reversible-Gunmetal-Buckle-Brown/dp/B00CMQ9IUS?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
~Shirt: For under the armor - http://www.amazon.com/CYZ-Mens-Thermal-Sleeve-Top-Grey-XL/dp/B00VRC3XZY?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
~Gloves Part 1: http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Deerskin-Gauntlet-Glove-X-Large/dp/B00SZ50U16?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
~Gloves Part 2: We pulled the stitches around the thumb to detach and cut off the snap part on the back of the hand. http://www.amazon.com/Deerskin-Fingerless-Driving-Gloves-Available/dp/B011NB9K8M?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01
~Make Up/Scar: You didnt mention anything about creating the scar but this stuff makes REALLY EASY and realistic scars. All you have to do is make a scar line with some lip liner then cover it with a couple layers of this and it makes a puckered scar. http://www.amazon.com/Collodion-Scarring-Liquid-Make-up-package/dp/B00247XQS0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s02

If you had any questions about specific pieces I'll help in any way I can. I am in NO WAY an expert, but different perspectives on how to create something seems to help me a lot.
