So I've been seeing alot of hype about Dragon Age 2 (Hype here meaning press in general whether positive or negative).

I really enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins. In fact I think that it has been the best game since Baldur's Gate 2.
I understand that many of you don't share that opinion, but it is mine and I am entitled to it.

I don't want to ruin the game for myself my getting worked up for it and setting my expectations too high. I also don't want to accidentally stumble apon spoilers (I really, really loathe spoilers.) Especially since I have stumbled upon one already
the one regarding Flemeth's return in DA2
contained in an article in Game Informer.

I read, a while back, that Tim from CAD does something similar to this except with a binge on promotional material in the days leading up to release. So I assumed that others do this too.

So what I'm asking for is any advice that you may have in regards to avoiding promotional video's etc. as well as spoilers. (Please don't say, "Just don't look at it". I am not stupid, just too damn curious for my own good.)

When a game that I am anticipating is almost released, I just stop going on the internet altogether until I finish the game, besides MSN but even then I only appear offline. I stay away from forums, YouTube (and the comments) and most sites in general. Even Facebook is unsafe because for all I know some dickhead will post spoilers. A lot of people I know posted how they were upset at the end of Red Dead Redemption and included what happened at the end. Luckily I had already finished the game.

It's rather simple really. Don't watch trailers, don't visit the website and stay away from gaming forums.

You said don't say the first, but they are pretty much all that can be done. If you watch the trailer they may show you something you didn't want to see. Visit the website and you never know how much they will reveal and forums are the worst of all because people who have done the former two will post it at every opportunity.

There is a certain kind of troll that will go into a discussion irrelevant to the spoilers they are about to post, just to catch people off guard. It happened to me prior to Gears of War 2 being released (someone had gotten hold of an illegal copy) and as such, I knew who was going to die throughout the game before it was even released.

A lot of people will tell you not to read about the game before it's released, but I think the spoilers will be expecting that. My advice is to recklessly throw yourself into every pertinent article you can find. Take the fight to them! With surprise as your ally!

Just read all the negative stuff about it.

Like this:

Dragon Age 2 will suck and you should feel bad and be publicly humiliated if you buy it because you're a bad person.

Also you can look at those two screenshots floating around and pretend that is what the game is going to look like when it's finished.

That way you either won't care and won't buy it at all or you will buy it and will be surprised when it doesn't give you cancer.
