I'm 17 near the end of my schooling. My girlfriend is in the same year as me and we hang out at school. As you'd expect we hold hands and hug etc (Not even kissing mind you) and the school calls us up to the principals office and tells us if we touch each other one more time we will be separated during lunch times... Wait, what? How is that fair?

I don't understand what is wrong with a mere hug or holding hands and why this needs to be punished so severely. They didn't give me one reason why, they just said "Don't do it again or we will separate you" which just seems ridiculous and unfair. I've been contemplating writing a formal complaint to the school for this and some other reasons I won't get into but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort since my education there is nearly finished. Might just make things more difficult but I'd like to make it better for anyone else unfortunate enough to go there.

So what do you suggest escapist?

Do as they say, there's really no reason to get expelled because of something silly like this. It shouldn't be that difficult to wait until after school to get physical(in the sense you mean here, that is), unless you're unhealthily codependent. Is it really worth it getting on the bad side of people you're never going to see again, when you're almost done with school?

Essentially, they make the rules, not you and a letter to them won't change anything, just because you think it's unfair. My suggestion is just let it go and see your girlfriend after school and keep the interaction with her to talking during school.

Mm, that's what I decided on. Advice is appreciated. Think today was just a bad day, should be alright if I don't focus on it, like you said, plenty of time for that later. Just in a bad mood methinks. Again, appreciate your time.

No problem at all, it's usually good to get an opinion/advice from a neutral third-party, though you did end up deciding the right thing(in my opinion, anyway) by yourself. I hope you make it work, just remember that you'll be done soon, if you have a bad day like today again.

That's the plan. Have a good life.
