So recently I've found myself with an abundance of free time, and I decided I might want to try my hand at creating a Let's Play series.

The thing is I'm not quite sure what all that entails. I'm a fan of Let's Plays, but not all that knowledgeable about what goes on behind the scenes. so if anybody who has pulled off some decent Let's Plays, or is at least knows more than about them than me, could give me some advice on what all I'd need and what I should and shouldn't do, maybe I can avoid embarrassing myself and actually make something half-decent and entertaining.

What games/genres do you like and what games are you considering for it?

If you are doing a blind one, it will be more fun! Feel free to improvise some jokes, but do not resort to saying stupid stuff like "That's what she said".

My tastes are mostly RPGs, shooters or some combination thereof mostly.
I was mainly considering either Alpha Protocol, Fallout New Vegas, or the first Deus Ex.

I used to be friends with someone who would do those Let's Play videos. All he'd do was setup his capture card, hook it up to the console he was going to use, and he also invested in buying a good microphone.

A lot of the time, he would write his script after he played the game, but when he found out that sometimes the best jokes and commentaries were when he was actually playing, he started doing that.

I'm not sure what else I can say; that's all I remember from him.
