This is a pretty short advice thread, and it's me offering my own opinion incase anyone wanted to be enlightened or anything. Just in general, in high school, if you have a problem with something, be it girls, sports, anything under the sun, just sit back, clear your head, and just remind yourself that it's high school, and shit happens. I know it sounds like a brutally obvious thing to say, but people often over look the fact that high school is 4 years of your life, and in the long run, that one girl you wanted to date, probably wasn't going to affect your life as a whole any way. This is all coming from a guy who has had both girl and sports related problems lately, so I am saying this with the ability to empathize.

Agreed. It's a shame this topic will get drowned out and the high school relationship threads will continue.

Ever go to the desert and tell a thirsty man he just needs some water?

Not trying to be a dick, its just the metaphor that stuck and I don't believe they can really control it.

The thing is, to someone in high school, 4 years is a significant portion of their current life experience. It's not very easy for some to step back and take the long view; in fact, a few people seem to be hard wired against it!

As for girls, I am engaged to my high school girl friend, and we've been together now for seven and a half years, so you never know who you'll get stuck with. ;)

I would just like to add that those 4 years are when puberty is doing its biggest number on your brain. A good amount of why you feel so awful is just hormones, a lot of it is just in your head!

I agree with Kurokami and kjrubberducky. Sometimes no matter who often you tell yourself, shit is still going to get you.

If you have the ability to get in contact with the internet, you already have a great luxury available to you. Happiness is a conscious choice, not something you find or get in a box in the mail.

For example, browse TED.com instead of Youtube. Very inspiring.

When i was in secondary school i felt like the world was going to end over what seems now to be stupid little things. It isn't till now, 3 years later, that i realize they were probably some of the easiest years of my life! School is so easy, but you can't understand how easy it is until you have finished because you don't know how hard life is after school (unless you're Billy Madison).

I wish i could rewind time and go back to school and try to enjoy it instead of wasting my time rebelling for no reason what so ever.

Just try and live every second of it.
Break all you can, Party all you can, laugh all you can, kiss all you can.
Be a bad student, you´ll have a blast, trust me.
Dont let your fucked up head try and blow it.
School is fun.

Be yourself.

..and learn to make comebacks.
I am good at comebacks, too bad I'm so good, and with a good level of logic and vocabulary, that they hardly understood what I said.

For example, the explained version of the "gay" comeback:
"Being gay isn't insulting unless it's clearly not my sexuality. So by calling me gay derogatroily you are admitting you are a homophobe and/or you know I'm straight."

Simple, far more effective version:
"In your wet dreams."

He's 110% right. I'm going to go into whiny-little-***** mode for just a second here to show you what I mean: I kept my head down the whole time, took every crumb of abuse without ever fighting back, studied even though I despised it, and never broke a rule. As a result I hated every single solitary goddamned second of four years of my life. At the end of it all, my reward for being a good boy was that I got to watch every self-aggrandizing jock asswipe who'd spent the last four years picking on me, fucking off, fucking girls, bouncing in and out of suspension, and just generally doing whatever they wanted to do, all graduate too. If I had it all to do over again, every single microscopic detail would be exactly the opposite.

End of whiny-little-***** mode. Do whatever you want to do until you're eighteen. Don't worry -- unless you kill someone (and sometimes even then), no school principal, no angry parent, no court in all the land can touch you when you're a minor.

High school sucks and always has sucked. Most of these matters are ones that sort themselves out eventually. I feel like I've moved on way past high school issues, thankfully; my biggest concern now being somebody who I can make a spectacle of myself at prom and laugh it off with. Even that isn't anything too bad.

Most of my most pressing issues are completely apart from high school, involving plans after graduation and the like.

Guys, i never thought I'd be one to say this but, most of you really don't know how lucky you are in school. Enjoy it to the maximum, you will look back on these days in the future and smile when you think about them and how good you had it.

High-school isn't always the shit storm a lot of people throw around. Not trying to sound rude but some people make mountains out of ant hills...not getting into a relationship or not being able to talk to the girl you "love" is not the end of the world! There are 6 billion some people in this world and highschool has a thousand.

High school was a shitstorm for me. But, so was every level of what is laughingly called public education. Getting beaten up constantly, ridiculed, humiliated, and embarrassed and at the same time being expected to maintain focus on curriculum burdens being administered by the same uncaring, narcissistic teachers who allowed this sort of behavior to go on because they couldn't be bothered to intervene is a bit much to ask of a child.

I think this topic clearly has understated the kind of torture that some children are forced to endure in public schools.
Sorry mate. I was merely expressing my experience in the high school and what I've seen which seems mostly overblown shit. Since reading your post, I've thought about it and have changed my thoughts. I'm lucky that I haven't been beaten up yet (I'm picked on regularily by people and physical abused but not completely beat up) and can still focus on the shitty thing the government calls "education" but I understand the troubles others experience. Thinking on it, I also agree with your idea on the teachers who don't give two shits about anyone but them and their money. Although-I don't attend a public school per se, so I don't know fully the torture. You say "was" so how long ago was your highschool days? Because if it has been some time, highschools could've changed

[sub][sub][sub]If any text in this post seems offensive or rude, I do not mean it that way. I am not being sarcastic but instead giving my two cents. The sentence structure may not be perfect and make it sound as an insult, but do not take it that way[/sub][/sub][/sub]

*Goes to start a new thread called "Get over it, its just life"

This thread seems like trolling to me. Well disguised trolling.

And to quote the great Jennie Garth "Its always high school"

And she's right.
